My grandma used to tell me stories from Japan, which got me into anime and japanese culture
I've never been to Japan though, but someday I would very much like to...
Oh!!! I didn't anser your question
I'm from Bulgaria (if you don't know where it is don't worry. NOBODY KNOWS )

Your grandma from Japan?

Aw, if you come here some day, I think I can take you
to sight-seeing

This is the first time to get a Bulgarian friend
I know where your country is. Next to Romania, right?
I've just googled, hehe

Yeah, nice to meet you~
BTW, how can I call you?
I'm Toki. Toki means time or Crested ibis (beautiful rare bird
living in Japan and China):
[link] .

But my name, Toki also means "the gate to hope" with Kanji
Plz call me Toki or Toki-chan

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BotaniYana In reply to TokiImagawa [2012-02-24 07:29:57 +0000 UTC]

I hope that I can some someday XD
yup, it's next to Romania!!!
And yeah I know you're name (I'm using it for a character in my story)
It is a beautiful name

Im Yana. It means "God is gracious". A pretty uncommon name here TTwTT
But there is also a river called "Crazy Yana"

(The story of the river is that one day during the Ottoman rule a bulgarian woman was forced to marry a turk soldier and to save herself she jumped into the river. The soldier called her crazy and the villagers decided to call the river after her "Crazy Yana")

They didn't name me after the river XDXDXD

It's nice to meet you Toki-chan

By the way where in Japan are you from?

To tell the truth, I'm a Catholic.

Crazy Yana sometimes goes into a flood?

Nice to meet you

I'm in Tokyo, the capital of Japan.
And you?

BotaniYana In reply to TokiImagawa [2012-03-05 04:37:07 +0000 UTC]

Mmmm... I'm a christian, yes
Wow in Tokyo?! That's awesome
I've heard so much about it
I live in tne capital of Bulgaria Sofia
By the way it may seem like a stupid question, but why do you want to become a manga-ka?

TokiImagawa In reply to BotaniYana [2012-03-17 15:24:35 +0000 UTC]

I see!

Well, it's a long story to tell.
At first my friend drew manga when I was 13 years old.
My parents were so strict that they didn't permit game, anime and manga.
Her original manga was the first time for me to know what is manga.

I began to draw manga-like illustration to resist my parents
and insist myself that I'm a independent person.
But those days, I didn't dream to be a mangaka.
I just wanted to help my friend as a manga assistant.

But when I was 15 years old, I felt the difference what she was
and what I was.
She thought "the most need for manga is the skill of art.
Nothing else is needed."
But I thought that "it's wrong. the most needed is the skill of
telling story. We should study and experience everything
for it."

Then I decided to draw manga by myself.
To be sad, my friend was dropped in junior high school and
we haven't contact each other for 6 years or longer

This is how I begin to chase my dream

BotaniYana In reply to TokiImagawa [2012-03-17 16:31:30 +0000 UTC]

I see.

I know right?
The story is very important
actually i bet that if naruto didn't have such a compicated storyline it wouldn't be so popular.
So what kind of story do you want to write
and what kind of manga do you like to read
or anime to watch.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TokiImagawa In reply to BotaniYana [2012-03-20 11:26:28 +0000 UTC]

Well, I love "Ooku", "Ghost in the shell: Stand Alone Complex", "Black Lagoon",
"Giant Killing", "Shaman King" and "Utyu Kyodai (meaning Cosmic Brothers)" in manga.
I love "INNOCENCE", "Ghost in the shell" and "Puella Madoka Magica" in anime.
Do you know some of them??
I think it's less popular than Naruto but more awesome

And recently I'm crazy about Final Fantasy series.

I tend to draw SF, crisis, society, minority and something like that.
I don't draw normal life in manga.
And my female characters are always strongest XDXD

What about you?
BTW is English your mother tongue?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BotaniYana In reply to TokiImagawa [2012-03-20 14:13:27 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... I would have to say that "Naruto" would always stay my favourite mainly because it was the first anime I watched. The manga is very good as well. "Bleach" is also not bad as the story is original and the art one of a kind.I started watching "Ghost in the shell" , but gave up as the story did not appeal to me. "Fairy tail", "One piece","Ouran high school host club", "Kenichi", "Rurouni Kenshin" , "Vampire Knight" which is my favourite shoujo manga and anime. (I also Respect Matsuri Hino alot) And yes!!! Shaman King is really awesome!!!

About what kind of stories I tend to make. Well I read a lot of shoujo, so my style is kind of shoujo and I like romance stories. But I really like complex characters and storylines, so my manga often has a typical shounen feel to it. My female characters are not stronger than the male ones, but they do have their strong points.( Welll exept for the main heroine that kicks ass!!XDXD)

No, english is not my mother tongue.

And your characters look very interesting. What is the story of the manga that you are creating?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TokiImagawa In reply to BotaniYana [2012-03-22 05:54:51 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I know the first manga or anime we touch is often the best forever XD
My first manga is shaman king. I think it's the best manga ever for me in my whole life XD

You like shojo? Wow, I think you read shojo more than I
I seldom read shojo. But I've read "Ouran high school host club". That was so funny XD

Now I'm creating "X3 (read "multiplied by 3", in short "by 3")".
Two girls are heroines.
In the story, every life repeats his/her life endlessly in circle of life.
(Like the Buddhist dogma, "the transmigration of soul")
If we want to get out of such a tiring circle, you can choice two ways.

The former way, understanding the philosophy in endless circle is common.

But two girls chose the latter extraordinary and shortest way.
They should destroy the biggest demon confusing men's spirits not to
let people archive the former way.
They can get extraordinary power and recuperative power to archive it
but they can revive only 3 times in return.
If they are killed more than 3 times, their souls will be destroyed
and can't exist again any more.

One of the girl have already been killed 3 times.
The other have already been killed once.
Whether they can win the demon and why they chose such
a way is the question of the story.

In the story, lives look like "life point" in game.
In game we can revive whenever we want
The game-like-reviving system and the Buddhist dogma inspired me a lot.
