Description Just uploading a chart I made detailing the categories that terrestrial life-bearing worlds are divided into based on solar irradiation and surface gravity. While this is a Midgard Project thing, I've based this on current science and astrobiological speculation so it should be fairly pertinent to proper sci-fi settings and maybe our own universe. The underlying assumption here is that most life-bearing worlds orbit the more common M-type and K-type stars, with K-type being especially suitable for intelligent civilisations to emerge, with G-type stars being the upper bound in size and luminosity. F-type stars and larger do not last long enough for complex ecosystems to arise, and produce too much harmful ionising radiation (UV and above) for a life-friendly environment.

This chart is from an alien perspective - that majority that arose on cooler, smaller worlds than Earth - and a close look at the numbers reveals something very wrong with their assumptions about intelligent lifeforms.

Feel free to use this for your own settings. I intend to follow up with the different kinds of life that may be found in mine.
