Description Finally done!!!!
-Couldn't make up my mind on which color scheme to give Clark. The silver-age blue suit, The Lois&Clark look, or a warmer "Returns" look.

-For Superman, (Out of SPITE for that BULLSHIT "Man of Steel" and DC Reboot look) I gave him back his RED UNDERWEAR instead of the black w/ red hi-light look I had always drawn him with. The -S- is the "Returns" look that I have grown to Love a hell of lot more than the corporate logo.

Plus I hate the Man of Steel -S-!!!! Yeah yeah yeah it's the golden-age S but I thought that logo was CRAP too!!!!

The Fortress background is an manipulation of a bunch of Crystal designs rolled into one with an S added for good measure. I really need a 3d program!

Don't misunderstand my hatred of "Man of Steel" I hate the "Logic" behind the costume designs. However It's too early to make a judgement on the movie as a whole....YET!!!!
It's my personal opinion that David Goyer and Christopher Nolan may have too much "Dark Knight" on their minds that they may not have a clear understanding of who/What Superman is about.

Zach Snyder? I liked 300 (as over-rated as it is) Watchmen was faithful.(which really Shocks me the look of Superman) Sucker Punch was MEH! and the Owl movie....didn't see it.

Anyways, we'll see how it unfolds. Until then, My Opinion: THEIR VISION SUCKS!!!!

Are you kidding? This is a great job, everything looks great to me! Especially the realistic background of the fortress.

Yeah I stopped reading DC years ago, but I saw some of their current new changes and I do agree they suck big time.

It's a little late so forgive the tardy response. It's amazing how much things change within a couple of years. I still HATE the DC "New 52" Bull-crap on a multitude of levels. Superman needing a nano-tech suit of armor is the biggest pile of horse shit I have ever heard in my life.

HOWEVER:
The Man of Steel suit has actually grown on me. Despite the Over-textured nature and ribbed for your pleasure aspects of the suit, it's at least more close to his classic look. He doesn't have a stupid collar or metallic looking color that the 52-suit has. The only thing missing is his underwear and I've come to like the S-shield too (the Returns S is still my favorite)

As for my initial reaction to "Man of Steel": That 3rd movie trailer went a long way to win me over into having a little faith in the film. I can't wait.

PS: Thanks for the kind words on the artwork

Your artwork is very nice to say the least.

For financial reasons among others, I stopped buying and reading comics many years ago. I only know the New 52 and the changes made because of a the fans here in DA. Most of which are ridiculous, the changes in DC not the fans, .

Even though I don't buy DC or Marvel comics anymore I always look forward to the live action movies., especially from Warner Brothers.
Keep up the great art.

I stopped buying certain comics for financial reasons (Bills, Comics becoming over-priced) while others for more crap-tastic reasons (Spider-Man: One More Day, EVERY THING GEOFF JOHNS TOUCHES, Dan Didido and Joe Quasada's "creative" editorial talents and stupid character assassination stories such as Civil War, Identity Crisis.......ANYTHING CRISIS)

Now this 52 pile of shit! which is THE BIGGEST PILE OF SHIT FAKE REBOOT IMAGINED.
Basically the gist to me begins and ends with the Superman line of books. 'Action Comics' tells the early days of an emo-Asshole while over in 'Superman' the story is advanced to present day (five years later) where this guy looks like and kinda acts like Superman but is wearing a stupid nano-tech suit of armor?!?!?

-SO-
Batman went through FIVE ROBINS, A DEATH IN THE FAMILY, A BROKEN BACK, A QUAKE RIDDEN CITY AND HIS OWN DEATH IN THAT 5 YEAR GAP?!?!?

oh it's even better, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) went through EVERYTHING HE'S GONE THROUGH TO PRESENT WITH ALL THE COLORS OF THE RAINBOW RINGS.......IN FIVE YEARS?!?!?!?

Geoff Johns is a FUCKING joke crybaby hack writer who doesn't want to see ALL his "Hard work" tossed out the window. To him I say FUCK YOU JOHNS!!!! You force a reboot NO ONE EVEN WANTED and telling us to effectively forget all we know, WHILE YOU DON'T WANT TO LOSE ALL YOUR HARD WORK?!!?!? FUCK YOU, YOU HYPOCRITE PIECE OF SHIT!!!!

*sorry, got on my high horse there. forgive the cursing, My biggest bone of contention of the last couple of years is dealing with so-called talented writers who more or less feed you ice cream but instead of it being your favorite flavor (or good for that matter), it's coated with shit and for the life of me people get off on eating shit!

According to artist
DC's rearranging and changing their main concepts and characters was made to increase the declining poor sales among other things.

I forgive your cursing, I think these characters are timeless and immortals, sure they have to adjust them to go with the times, but not to leave completely unrecognizable from what they were. Is disrespectful to their original creators to say the least.

I still disapprove of what writer Marv Wolfman did in the 1980s in The New Teen Titans, making Robin become Nightwing and leave his real superhero self behind because he had to "grow up"? This isn't anime or manga where the story is linear and there is a definitive beginning, middle and end, these are timeless characters.
I only knew of the 5 Robins because of fanart here, that's how long I've stopped buying comics.

I think DC did these whole reboot because they have to sell comics, and had to recreate everything for a whole new generation of young readers that may perhaps found the old concepts boring. Maybe 15 years from now or sooner someone else will come along and change things again.
I honestly liked when they did the original Crisis On Infinite Earths so all characters were all in one single Earth, but when back then they killed Supergirl, and changed Wonder Girl and others their lawyers said that they couldn't get rid of some of them because of major franchises involved and copyrights and trademarks made over them for decades.

Bottomline is all about business and making the most money they can.

I love you so much right now (in a totally, non-romantic way). Superman deserves better than what he's giving right now. "Superman looks badass now!" "Goodbye trunks!" God, people are stupid sometimes.

Superman is a character that needs to be perserved and respected, not to be mutated into what some "grim and gritty" emo fanboy wants. There, I agree with your opinion Superman rocks!

P.S. that 9 year old is probably smarter than any fanboy/girl of today

Thanks for the sentiments. As of right now (and pardon my vulgar display) I am wiping my ass with DC comics and their Bullshit new "re-imagining"

I don't give a $#iT if these stories are the greatest things since the creation of the internet, I HATE THIS NEW LOOK. A good friend of mine summed this up great -"It would be like changing George Washington into a cyborg and change his nationality....might be coo, but so not needed" You can tell compelling stories or new interpretations but you just Don't Screw with a classic look.

Read a little of bit of the new Justice League. Thanks DC for STUPID THROW BACK 90's writing with the Heroes having the stupid need to fight each other for NO GOD DAMN REASON!!!! "We want to keep things simple for a new story" Really? If you feel the need to lower your quality of story telling to appease New readers that will likely drop your title after a few months when the hype of your BS STUNT wears off, YOU HAVE FAILED AS A CREATIVE WRITER!!!!

Pardon my rant

Superman isn't supposed to look mean, or even that threatening. He's always going to be the good guy because he *is* the good guy. He's the symbol of hope & goodness & 'everything will be all right'.
Changing his look or history messes with who he is, at the very core. He *is* a big boy scout, despite never belonging to a troop.
So I'm quite happy to see the red undies exactly where they belong!

I read a comment somewhere that found funny and true. In regards to people mocking Superman for being an all American Boy Scout. What does that say about the class of people mocking him?

Amen to that! I've always loved the classic Superman costume because of the association with the 'Strongman' archetype.

I think what bugged me more is the comments that some brainless moron fans shooting their mouth's off showcasing their idiocy in proclaiming "Superman looks bad ass" or "it makes him look less like a boy-scout and more of a tough guy" The ignorance behind those statements makes me want to slap these people stupid!

With a little tweaking (mostly the color, the fitting of his man-panties so his waists don't look too curvy and a DAMN YELLOW S on the cape) the "Returns" suit is a great look.

WHY Superman needs to raid Thor's wardrobe or have a suit with armor elements is just plain Stupid.

It's even sadder that one of my students, 9 year old points out in his own words how "retarded" the thought of a metallic suit from the comics or the latex suit in the new film. "He's Superman, why does he need that"?

INDEED!!!!

I suppose that some people were obviously feeling insecure with their own masculinity to blurt out negative opinions on the traditional superhero underwear-on-the-outside look.

For me, Superman IS badass because of his boy-scout characterization and not because of what he wears. He can perform feats of miracles and yet remain humble about his powers. So it puzzles me why people insist of forcing Superman into a grim-dark role like Batman and all the Rob Liefeld anti-hero stuff from the 90s. That scenario was done to a Superman-expy named Plutonian in the "Irredeemable" comics, and the results are pretty horrifying. I get angry annoyed by people pissing on my role model and wanting him to become someone he's not supposed to be.

In the original context and spirit of the creation of Superman, I theorized that he was supposed to be a he-man and an unintentional sex symbol. Plain ordinary earthly Clark Kent when he's in disguise; a mythological demi-god when he's being Superman. IMHO the new costume took away that symbolism. Now he look like a politically-correct Captain Marvel wannabe.

Still, I bet DC would revert back to his traditional look once the current Flashpoint storyline ends with a massive reboot.

Don't get me wrong, There is more to Superman than just the suit. The ending of Smallville proved that to me. I was more invested in Clark's journey and emotional impact of him finally flying and fulfilling his destiny that it didn't bother me that we didn't truly see him as Superman (other than a CG character)

My issue with his look on the other hand is both logistic and sentimental.
Good call on the political correct capt Marvel

The flashpoint storyline will not last more than a year. They foretold this event in a Justice League #0 a few years ago. The Trinity were discussing the discovery of another Earth by The Flash.
Unfortunately I don't care because DC's higher ups (Dan Didido among others) pretty much ruined DC for me with their ENDLESS reliance on the Crisis, their HEART-On for the silver-age (sorry, I hated the Silver age) and the #1 thing that drove me away was their Obsession (because of 911) with putting extreme reality into their books. I want good stories and relatable characters, YES but I want to read comics to ESCAPE REALITY! makes sense? I mean I liked a lot of the dark stories but it also turned me away from the books.
