I believe that a person's consciousness is perhaps the most powerful energy on the planet. However as with any power it can be empowering or destructive. The model in this shot , Penny, has an enormously powerful presence about her. She has a very shapely and strong body and also very defined bone structure. However it is her emotional depth that emanates the biggest impact I think. She is not always the most relaxed person I know but no matter what state of mood she is in being around her certanly makes you feel things. In this shot I beleive she is intense and is powerfully projecting this. However when she lets her walls down and is in her comfort zone the beauty viewed and felt is inspirational. This image is perhaps more dominating than I would like. However unless I am at my absolute most secure I find it hard to provide Penny with the envinronment she needs to let her walls down.nb; This image was taken at one of my recent photographic workshops. Tony please do keep writing from the gut. It's wonderful to see reflections or responses that are more than the usual male animal grunt. Some people are very threatened by the power of female sexuality, including many females!
I love the way you show such power with honest appreciation. I related completely to your comments and found the negative reaction of one observer saddening but predictable. He is a grunter it seems.
Keep up the wonderful work in words and images.
It occurs to me most of my novels seem to reflect female power unrestrained, perhaps that's why I connect with your work.

Hi David, thanks very much for your words of advice and support.I thoroughly agree with you about the power of female sexuality and that both men and women can be overwhelmed. I love beauty and adore beautiful and powerful women. However many of the women treat their bodies and energy as a commodity. I believe that this overwhelms many men including me and tests our own insecurity. Whilst it can hurt and one reaction is to be defensive I would rather accept my vulnerability and go deep for understanding and strength.

Thanks to all those who have commented here. Also thanks to those who have given a different perspective to SadRevolution. The things I say are definitly not to make myself seem intellectual. I very much believe that understanding our feelings is not about being smart or important. We all have access to our own emotions and therefor all have access to the sorts of things I write here. As a photographer I am continually connecting to what others are feeling. So perhaps my writing is as much a refelection on where many of us are at than it is repeating something that is not relevant.

Your comment was in no way constructive. If you want to post your opinions, that's up to you, but do it on your own part of DA and link to the artwork.
Comments should be supportive or constructive, not simply saying 'I don't like this'. That's not helpful. Especially when it has nothing to do with the actual artwork in question.

Whether I find it interesting or not is irrelevant - the point is, if you're going to comment, make it supportive of the artwork or provide some constructive feedback.
I don't think it's just some stupid thing that he says, or an attempt to look intellectual. I think those are his genuine thoughts and feelings regarding the artwork, the process of photographing a model, and that's entirely up to him to post that. But that doesn't give you the right to come along and put those kind of comments on it.
If you want to put up those kind of negative opinions, do it on your own page and link to the artwork you're talking about.

I'm sorry, the difference between posting negative opinions on your own space and posting them on his artwork? Your space is your space, do with it as you will, but respect his artwork by not posting those kind of comments on his work. That's the difference.

I doubt very much that he would care what you said in the privacy of your part of DA - but if you think that you have something so important to say he should hear it. then you put it in a note and send it to him directly. But writing purely negative comments on artwork where you merely say you don't like what he says in his comments is unhelpful to everyone.

Actually, yours was NOT a constructive critique. You're complaining about the artist's comments...which is something he has the right to post.
In fact, those comments tell a lot about what was going on during the shoot...and his relationship with his model(s). I find them to be interesting and very revealing.
Like Zahng said, nobody's forcing you to read them. If you want to comment about the photo, then feel free...that is definitely your right and no one will (or should) tell you otherwise.
But, to complain about an artist's comments is bad form.
