A lot of reasons.For one thing, the mane six lost and it was up to two characters who we had never seen before this special to save the day. That's not how it's supposed to work in a series like this. The mane six are the ones who were revealed at the beginning to be the bearers of Harmony, the Chosen Ones; the Chosen one(s) is/are always supposed to be the one to defeat the major villains. Sure, the sidekicks or characters of the day can jump in and take out some of the more important villains, but it's always supposed to be the chosen ones, the established heroes of the story, who finish off the leaders of the villains.
It's part of the hero's quest: the rescue from without, when the hero is in a position they can't escape and are only able to succeed by getting help from someone else. However, even when that happens the hero is still supposed to be the one to end the conflict; the rescuer is only supposed to get them out of their bind so they can proceed to save the day. So, it would have been one thing is Cadence and Shining had just attacked the changelings and freed the mane six so they could take out Chrysalis herself, but instead they had where these two characters who haven't been around long enough to make an emotional connection to end up defeating Chrysalis.
Another reason is because it seemed like a cheap Disney ripoff and had the worst songs in the history of the show (in my opinion; I know a lot of people like them but I can't possibly fathom why).
I have more reasons, but I don't want to go through all the time to list them right now. I'll continue the list when I see your response.

Well, you are right because the main protagonist, aka the Chosen One, is always to be the hero and saviour of many lives. the antagonist, who has an army of him/herself standing with them and plans to take over every city in every land. The "Power of Love" IS powerful, sure, but was that really necessary?? I mean, the Elements of Harmony was powerful enough to send someone into a stone prison and to send somebody straight to the moon. But why didn't Chrysalis get turned to stone or be transported to the moon? She clearly immortal until a captain and a princess show up and used their power of love to defeat. Wow. Magical...
Well, it is okay for characters to lend a hand, but its not okay when they act hero and save the day themselves because the protagonist can't do it. If my character was there, Chrysalis would've been turned to stone, along with her changelings. But instead, I had to sit and get a reference from Mass Effect 3's endings. In ME3's last choice, all you do is choose between 3 different coloured endings: blue, green and red. They're all the same, the Reapers (main villains) get destroyed or leave the galaxy, the Mass Realys (that makes ships go to places at many light years away) get destroyed and the entire galaxy (who you worked so hard to get) is stranded in the Solar System, not knowing what will happen to their fate. I hate that part...
The songs in the episodes a ripoff from Disney? I dunno, they seem to make up the songs as they go, eh.

A Reminder, Lauren Faust created FiM, and she never had a say in anything of her beloved series because of Hasbro. In truth, if you started something you built, make sure it stays standing as long as you're in charge. Do not let anyone control what you helped built just because they can.

My next issue with the wedding is the issue of where the **** Luna was during the wedding. Celestia was busy so she couldn't guard the barrier, so shouldn't Luna have taken over guard duty instead of leaving the barrier completely unattended? And even if she still only had to work at night and had the day off, shouldn't she have spent that day of attending HER OWN NIECE'S WEDDING? Seriously, apparently she didn't have to guard the barrier, meaning she had the day off, so that means she apparently just felt it wasn't important to watch the most important event in her niece's life. She wasn't working, she wasn't attending the wedding, so where the **** was she?
