I dunno - Saren wanted control just as much (if not MORE) as the Illusive Man. Part of how Sovereign seduced him was by convincing him that organic races would be able to 'survive' and even take control of their masters.Β
Synthesis doesn't really vibe with him for me - that said, good artwork

Everytime I have to kill saren in the original ME, I feel remorse, is this bad or is this how I should feel?

To be fair, Saren really didn't (couldn't) advocate synthesis any more than TIM advocated control. Both of their brains were so thoroughly "hacked" that they couldn't think independently from the Reapers or come to logical conclusions that didn't on their face seem absurd or directly contradicted by evidence.

I would disagree. Β I mean, they did both reach the point where it wasn't them choosing anymore. Β But they did both fall to the lies, bit by bit. Β Saren with his identity of the guy who makes the hard decisions 'for the greater good' and TIM with his dreams of total human supremacy. Β The reapers played to their weaknesses while their minds were still their own, played on them until their minds were their own no longer.
