Description
UPDATED 06-05-2016I've been meaning to update this tutorial for yonks using the more contemporary (and easier) method of making an MMD model hold a microphone for sometime but never got around to it till now. So here it is.
Corrected grammar in panel.
The original tutorial using the older method of doing this is still included with Rin Chan's Rainbow Microphone Pack D/L: MMD Accessory - Rainbow Microphone Pack
The silver and gold microphones are included in this set: MMD Accessory - articulated Microphone Stand
A more flashy set of microphones are here: MMD Accessory Illuminated LED Microphones
This version of IAx can be downloaded here: bowlroll.net/file/104776

Method is the same for any object but see also these tutorials:
It makes holding anything a lot easier.

Nope, it's someone's OC. Do a search here on DA using the character's name (Juliette Kurassa) for more info.

That character (Delphinium) would look really nice in MMD; and thanks for the comment.

What about the microphone used for "Romeo and Cinderella"? What values do you suggest?

Should be the same as indicated here. I'm not familiar with that motion, but it shouldn't be any different than any others where the Vocaloids are holding a mic.

This is a good tutorial. But, say you're gonna make an animation without motion data (in other words, your own), would this tutorial still work?
I was gonna ask you how would this work with the Vocaloids with the sleeves, but I figured you can just move the sleeve slightly away from the hand that you put the mic in. But I do want to make it so that the mic is not going through the hand (I'm sure I'm not the only one who strives to do this with MMD). Is the first bone in the middle finger the best one to attach it to?

Holding stuff is the same for animation and poses. (Animations are really just a long sequence of poses).
Nowadays, I use attachment points that I add to the models: [link]
These makes working with them so much easier.
Also you might want to see here also for more info on holding stuff: [link]

I have the SPiCa 39's giving model and since the motion I found had a mic. It's different because it's not middle_R
all it has is her left hand and I need her right

Holding the microphone for the Dream Fighter motion is done in exactly the same way as shown in this tutorial. You just have to adjust the hand/finger position at the beginning. The settings should hold thru the entire sequence as, if I remember correctly, it never changes after these have been set.

It really depends on the Vocaloid you're working with but the values in the tutorial will work for most. Personally, I use the following values these days:
x = 0.0000
y = -0.3500
z = -0.1500
Rz= -100.000 (this one is optional as you will seldom zoom that close to be able to see the button)
The older Animasa Vocaloids seems to have slightly bigger hands and the values were derived from working with these. You will probably find that you will need to adjust for the more contemporary Vocaloid models who have much more refined hands.
Not too sure about 3DCG models. Personally, I don't like them so I hardly ever use them. They should be similar to the Animasa models.
