Description I get asked this a lot, and to be perfectly honest, I never even knew that the video at the back of the default stage could even do this till I saw a video on YouTube with it working.

If you want to know how to get mode03 working go here (Crunchyroll forum): [link]

Update: 04-20-2013: If you want to know how to make a model of such a screen see here: [link]

Yeah, once you figured out which button to press... LOL

It was a pain to figure it out the first time for me; which is why I wrote this.

how do you make it so that the screen only shows up once instead of infiniteΒ times???

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to CureVoice [2018-03-24 06:19:13 +0000 UTC]

It works like a mirror. The infinity effect occurs when the MMD camera is aimed at the capture screen. You see an exact copy image of what the camera is seeing, including what is viewable in the capture screen. So the process is totally logical and natural. You will get the same effect in real life when a TV camera is showing a performer and a video screen behind them if this is viewable through the camera.

In real life, the feed that the monitors get can be taken by a camera which cannot view the projection screen behind the performer, such as a close up of the performer shown from the side. To do this in MMD, you have to do essentially the same thing. Pre-record the performance from another angle and use mode 3 to play back that recording on the capture screen.

But as is, the way the MMD capture mode works can be used to advantage such as for example, if you use certain angles with the camera, you can get an almost kaleidoscope like effect.

Screen ratio. Experiment with the two to see which one looks best on your screen.

I have the same problem! I loaded in the LearnMMD Stage, my two models, and some effects and motion data, and I tried on.mode01 and on.mode02 and nothing happens.

UPDATE: I got it working! nevermind.

I have no idea, I have never heard that this does not work. Sorry I can't help you as you have given no information to work with and I really don't like playing guessing games with technical issues.

I tried to do it in metapetal stage: load the stage, click on.mode01 or on.mode02 or 03 and nothing remains black ..

Trackdancer In reply to norah96 [2016-06-29 03:59:47 +0000 UTC]

"and nothing remains black .."

Before you start posting comments about things not working, we highly advise that you actually READ the instructions that comes with the stage. The reason that nothing is happening and remains black is because you did not load the capture screen: screen.x

hi I've been trying to put an avi video on the screen in a sage I'm using, but for some reason I can't get it to work. Any ideas why I cannot use the screen capture modes? I can't even use it with just my models like what you showed in your photo :/ I've clicked the link and followed what it says there too, but nothing is working for me :/

Please look in my tutorials gallery for an article that specifically explains how to get an AVI to work on the capture screens.

The stage comes with MMD - should be in the accessories folder (I believe - can't remember off the top of my head).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to Fg-Constructions [2013-04-19 23:45:30 +0000 UTC]

I can't find them either ... Really simple to make though. Just make a textured surface that uses a texture map labelled: "screen.bmp". That's all there is to it really.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Fg-Constructions In reply to Trackdancer [2013-04-20 07:42:15 +0000 UTC]

I tried but it's still not working.
I downloaded your model here: [link] to look how you made the screen. theres are texture with impossible values (Tex.Number 14). How have you make this?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to Fg-Constructions [2013-04-20 15:01:09 +0000 UTC]

I build my models in SketchUp and also texture them in that application. To make the screen, all I did was to relabel a BMP format image: "screen.bmp" and used that to texture the area that would be the screen. Then I converted/exported it to an x-file and corrected the materials value (ambient/diffuse/specular values) by editing the x-file manually (you can do this just as easy in the PMD editor. Loaded it up in MMD and it works. I don't need to do anything special to make the screen work as MMD is hardcoded to recognize any surface textured with "screen.bmp" as a motion capture screen. In fact it will not display the original texture at all.

Fg-Constructions In reply to Trackdancer [2013-04-20 16:07:07 +0000 UTC]

Okay, thanks, it works now, but I have so many screens on my surface now
Na, I think I have to resize the texture with the UV Mapping.
