Description
MORLOCK
Attributes: Among all other sapient hominins with which humans share a common ancestor, perhaps the most derived species call themselves Morlocks. Though not as morphologically derived as others, such as the Seatopians or the Shobijin, their long, non-terrestrial isolation has necessitated extreme metabolic, and behavioral adaptations that most would consider…profoundly inhuman.
Morlocks operate via a strict cast-based society, paralleling eusocial insects in some respects. The most common and basic cast type is the Warrior/Grunt. This all-male cast serves as the race’s defenders and attend to most matters of mechanical engineering and physical labor. They are powerfully-built, ape-like creatures capable of swiftly navigating rough terrains and twisting corridors alike, proceeding quadrupedally or bipedally as needed. Despite their mechanical prowess and pack-like coordination, much of their direction comes straight from higher casts, as their own intellect is little higher than an average Chimpanzee. It seems, as far as they’re concerned, doers need not be thinkers, and so the Grunts have been genetically programed to act under the orders of higher casts without question. When not under direct command, their behavior is simple; either going into stasis to conserve energy, or seeking any available prey to gain energy.
The Grunts’ female equivalents are the Breeders. Aptly named, this cast is responsible for sustaining the colony’s population. Their bodies are mostly frail and atrophied save for their enlarged abdominal cavity, which can house up to a dozen developing fetuses at a time. Upon sexual maturity, it is customary for them to receive further mutilations via ritualistic consumption of their sensory organs and any excess muscles or fat deposits. Breeders are kept in deep caverns within the colony, where male Grunts may easily defend and mate with them. These crowded birthing arenas also serve to weed out any deviations or weaknesses within the population, as upon birth a new liter is expected to precocially exit the area. Those that fail serve as extra nourishment for the Breeders.
These two basic casts may be modified or supplemented by many variations as needed. Some Grunts, for instance, may be cybernetically augmented for especially heavy lifting or defensive requirements. Older members of the cast are often relegated to working within more hazardous radioactive areas of the colony. Though considerably more durable than humans, they are not immune to its’ effects forever, and eventually degenerate into severely disfigured mutations that may even turn on unwary younger Grunts for food before finally succumbing. Breeders with low birth rates may also be reassigned as medical attendants for the higher casts, supplemented with cyborg implants.
All these creatures are essentially regarded as extensions of the final, dominant cast, known as Controllers. Highly intelligent and long-lived, the Controllers are the masterminds of the Morlock race, and include both male and female members. Through medial treatments, gene therapies, and surgical enhancements, Controllers have managed to extend their lifespans far beyond natural limits. Indeed, they claim not to be descended from, but in fact are the original founders of the race, making them most genetically similar to the human baseline. Their most striking physiological modification is the hyperextension of the spinal chord into a bony hump/sail-like structure. Their cognitive processes are amplified through this structure, and allows their thoughts to be broadcast telepathically to the other casts, granting them direct control and oversight of the colony’s maintenance and actions.
Despite their differences, all Morlock casts are subject to a few defining traits. For one, as their colony prioritizes energy conservation and thus produces very little light, they are extremely sensitive to bright light, finding it very painful to their eyes and being very susceptible to harsh sunburn. They also have a profound control over their metabolisms, being able to hibernate for extended periods, or defer the most energy to what organs are most needed at the time. It has also been noted by emissaries that they seem to be purely carnivorous. While they have explained their culturing of protein masses, by some estimations this alone doesn’t seem to explain where they receive all of their nutrition…
History: As is widely known by now, Earth was once populated by an extensive and highly advanced human civilization, predating all known paleolithic ruins or artifacts. For thousands of years, they thrived across the globe, but their destiny would forever change as they discovered Earth’s kaiju. Their attempts to harness and control the creatures’ power and growing inner turmoil accumulated into a war that nearly eradicated them and all traces of their once great society. Only small pockets of survivors were left. Some went into hiding, like the Watchuka. Others were reborn in isolation, like the Iwi and Seatopians. Others began anew, such as the ancestors of modern humans.
But one group of refugees was more daring than any other. The most advanced scientific pursuits at the time, as now, had contemplated the possibility of space travel for many years by the time of their civilization’s collapse. As the rest of their society broke down, a group of specially selected and trained individuals decided to abandon the Earth altogether.
And so, by usage of conventional rockets as well as lesser known transportational methods, they established a new home within the orbit of Jupiter. The original vessel was gradually expanded via gathered asteroid debris, until it approached the size of a small planetoid. Soon, what had meant to be a temporary shelter became a private sanctuary, from which the Morlocks have leisurely observed Earth for hundreds of thousands of years, biding their time…
Technology: While they continue to utilize some aspects of their own ancient tech, it seems in recent centuries Morlocks have grown accustomed to simply “borrowing” and reverse-engineering whatever they find useful from human developments. Most of their industries are highly automated, despite operating on an immense scale, with most energy being harnessed from Jupiter’s radiation.
They are in possession of advanced spacecraft that can traverse vast distances in time spans far shorter than any current Earth technology, utilizing a form of directional vibrations that require little to no fuel.
Their most advanced method of transportation, as well of one of their most significant technologies, is use of teleportation. All their vessels are equipped with a means to teleport as a last resort, as the process requires much energy. It appears the phenomenon only works reliably between two highly attuned and carefully maintained points as well. With these means, they have been able to more easily travel to, from, and upon Earth without much detection. Their precise points of Earth reentry remain classified.
Culture: In most respects, Morlocks operate under extremely utilitarian rules. Very little goes to waste, and many measures are taken to ensure a perfect, continual equilibrium within their colony. Birth rates are not regulated, as the excess offspring provide supplemental nourishment. Aside from the Controller cast, little regard is given in regards to individual life, as all are expected to serve the colony fully.
Indeed, conformity and security are of upmost importance to Morlock society. It may be that their earthly exile has instilled in them a great fear of natural chaos, and so they shield their world in routine ordained by electronic computers.
The only exceptions to this dictation are the Controllers themselves, who often make use of nearby asteroid mines to accumulate natural resources and rare minerals. These allow them to live very comfortably within their own living and command quarters, where they allow themselves more indulgent activities than the rest of the casts.
Human Relations: Many folklores from around the world caution against going out at night, for fear of a menagerie of night demons and ghouls, always waiting for the opportunity to spirit unwary souls away. And since the advent of nuclear tests through the later half of the 20th century, there have been many accounts of so-called “flying saucers” apparently observing Earth, forever just out of reach…
These coincidences are indeed notable, but most would agree that the first major contact between Humans and Morlocks occurred several years after King Ghidorah’s invasion…
The world was in turmoil and panic following the attack of the Three-Headed Monster. In addition to the devastations inflicted upon cities worldwide by maddened kaiju, the aftermath left the volatile Skull Island without an apex predator. The island now appeared to be a time bomb; an ecology of super-beasts threatening to spiral out of control. Despite the troubles of earth, the fact that the attack had originated from outer space stirred renewed interest in what may be out there…
And lo, something else indeed revealed itself. Not in the form of a monster, but a message. Directed across Earth along multiple bandwidths, the encrypted signal was soon decoded by many governments as a strange invitation of sorts, promising help and guidance in regards to the world’s monster problems. And so, a multinational effort was launched to meet these mysterious beings. FATHOM was included as just one of a variety of organizations with representatives on mankind’s new collective mission…
Finally, the expedition was launched, as per the signal’s instructions, to settle in high orbit around Earth, where it was said they would be met at the appropriate rendezvous point. Indeed, they were soon approached by a saucer-like craft, and taken aboard as honored guests of the Morlock race.
From there, contact with earth was momentarily lost, but soon resumed with astonishing news. The expedition members were being given selective tours upon a previously undescribed planetoid in geosynchronous orbit behind Jupiter! This strange new world, hastily dubbed “Planet X”, as shown to the human representatives, was brilliantly advanced in technology and luxury, offering more wealth than had ever been accumulated in all of human history.
But it seemed the Morlocks’ way of life was now at risk. And they had observed that the reemergence of earth’s kaiju was making things difficult for humans as well. And so, the Morlocks revealed the reason as to why they chose now to make contact with humanity, and the solution to both worlds’ problems…
They knew the whereabouts of Godzilla, Kong, Rodan, and Anguirus…

Apologies for the extended delay for this one. Lot of real-life stuff going on. And had to get it just the way I wanted. Hope you enjoy.

Well you've done it again! They look delightfully terrifying!
It'll be interesting to see how the other races are going to respond to the Morlocks making themselves known. I can see a meeting between them and the Mahar being quite intense....

You always make amazing entries for this story. May I ask how many different creatures were merged to make the KR morlocks? I recognize the Ro-man, the original morlocks, the xiliens, and if that thing really is Moguera, then also the Mysterians.

Very inch resting. I see you've combined all sorts of different humanoid alien concepts from across various Godzilla movies and media, as well as various other sources unrelated to the Godzilla movies (I'm looking at you Heavy Lifter).
"They knew the whereabouts of Godzilla, Kong, Rodan, and Anguirus…"
But what about King Ghidorah?

They probably have king Ghidorah, AND the other Kaiju under some kind of control and are gonna use them to take the Earth hostage by threatening to release them and their war machines unless humanity surrender.
Just an assumption on what I know about the Godzilla franchise, might see Monster X show up too!
