In all honesty, I think this is one of the better origin stories for Nemesis Prime, as opposed to him just being some mechanical automaton made by humans or something like that.

It would totally make sense if one were Orion Pax and the other Optronix and we would never know which one is which one.

Oh my !

Finally.

Thanks for all the comments and critiques, I'll have to agree to some extent with the people that didn't get who the pre-Nemesis robot was, let's say that, as glovestudios said, that this is just a way to introduce a reverse-optimus into the G1 cartoon continuity, it's just weird they never did it at the time, as mightybluespider said before, this is a common idea in several superhero books, it's the dark reflection of the hero, and since Optimus Prime is without a doubt the main hero character from G1 the preducers may very well have created a character like this one to show waht other path optimus could have chose.

and well what can I say, if this looks like a fanfic character, its because it is to a point, because it's kind of the same thing that when a new version of a old character is introduced into one of the newer continuities.

Well, anyway, at least a lot of people seemed to enjoy the story, thanks agian for that and thanks especially to glovestudios that chose my script, my very first ever, by the way.

Shamless plug : look for more on this version of Nemesis in my TF: Lost Season summaries.

Hmmm, I never really understood the fascination with Nemesis Prime... being a simple recolor of a pre-existing toy, the character amounts to nothing more than an afterthought, and a boring one at that. That being said, at least the story doesn't revolve around one of those ridiculous fan-ideas that Dion was anything more than just a throwaway character that dies in a cartoon episode (silly Ultra Magnus speculations be damned). Lastly, does the character of Nemesis Prime have any means of being even remotely annexed to G1? The idea of there being a 'Nemesis' Prime didn't even surface until RiD and Armada. Or is this a take on what might happen in the new IDW comics? In which case, Orion Pax doesn't ever exist.

Aside from that, I think the art is a great improvement over glove's last few pieces and even I thought those were pretty damn nice to look at.

You never understood Bizarro.

Earth-3

Doctor Octopus

Titanium Man

the Frightful Four.

Venom.

Justin Hammer.

the Scorpion.

Lore.

Either.

If you don't get the fascination with the Evil Twin/Duplicate than your creative side has no freaking soul. If I have to explain it to you, you are dead.

mightybluespider In reply to The-REAL-Carcass [2008-02-28 05:59:53 +0000 UTC]

That's okay. I have no explanation because there isn't one.

You either get the Evil Twin Fun or you don't. Given the loads of badly-written fiction surrounding evil twins I don't blame you.

The appeal lies in the concept more than in the delivery, and when it comes to concepts introduced as plain repaints of toys... the appeal does not have any quality delivery at all.

Frankly I like some deliveries of Nemesis Prime... but if you saw the Black repaint of the original Optimus Prime figure you would be bored to tears.

On the other hand, Black Battle Convoy looks awesome compared to Battle Convoy (Laser Optimus Prime).... because the colors and weapons just all match.

So I hope you read this and saw no explanation because I truly did not intend to give you one.

Because there is none. Not one.

I took this as Juan's take on how Nemesis Prime could have come to be if he was to exist in the G1 cartoon.

Very, very interesting take on the origins, not only of Optimus Prime, but of Nemesis Prime as well. I rather like this angle involving feelings of friendship and how that can so easily turn into feelings of betrayal.

I think it was a pretty good way of explaining canon and the origins of certain mechs, especially how they are, in the end, all tied together even if it doesn't seem like that at first. Synchronicity, as it were.

In the script he was called Exerion. Don't know if he was in a any previous fiction or anything. You'd have to ask Iskander77.

His 'look' looked familiar to me. I was curious if he was a cameo from some existing design.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

glovestudios In reply to nkelsch [2008-02-26 05:21:03 +0000 UTC]

The author asked for him to be similar in design to Orion Pax or Dion as he would have had a similar job in life and similar kind of robot, also since he gets rebuilt similar to Optimus that he would have a similar original mode. I chose his colors hoping that it would make it clear he is the one who becomes Nemesis Prime and also I figured that since Optimus Prime's colors stayed similar that his would as well.

Wow, this is beautiful! I confess I don't know much about Nemesis Prime, but the thought of Dion making a deal with Megs and then forcing Alpha Trion to remodel him...ooh, that gives me chills.

I absolutely love the panel of Prime holding the Autobot flag.

glovestudios In reply to ladyrazorsharp [2008-02-25 19:35:21 +0000 UTC]

I explained above but the guy making the deal with Megatron is Exerion, a former friend of Orin Pax'. Dion is in the first two panels, as one of the friends that Orion "took away" from Exerion.

JZLobo [2008-02-25 14:56:37 +0000 UTC]

This has instantly become one of my favorites! What an original idea to explain what happened to Dion... it's a shame this never happened in the cartoon.

And wow, really great artwork! Orion Pax's arm just leaps out at you in that first panel.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

glovestudios In reply to JZLobo [2008-02-25 19:34:02 +0000 UTC]

Hmmmm.... I don't think that was meant to be Dion. In the script his name was Exerion. His colors are different than Dion. Dion is in the first two panels, in blue and orange.

You'll have to ask the author but my impression was that the concept behind this was that a previously unseen friend of Orion Pax named Exerion had strong feelings of jealousy for Orion Pax and when Megatron came along that he saw it as an opportunity for revenge on Orion Pax.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JZLobo In reply to glovestudios [2008-02-25 22:18:27 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... Well, he looked a lot like Dion but in darker colors. IMHO, Dion would have bit a lot cooler than some random character that wasn't from the show and doesn't even show himself until halfway in the page.

glovestudios In reply to JZLobo [2008-02-25 22:53:04 +0000 UTC]

I didn't write it, guess I should let the author speak for himself as to why he chose what he did.

Yep, talk about a nasty twist.
