Description My tribute to the monsters created by Steven Moffat for Doctor Who. They are (from left to right): the Gas Mask Kid from "The Empty Child"/"The Doctor Dances", a Clockwork Man from "Girl In The Fireplace", a Weeping Angel from "Blink" and a few other episodes, the Vashta Nerada from "Silence In The Library"/"Forest of the Dead", and the Silence from "The Impossible Astronaut"/"Day of the Moon".

UPDATE (11/19/2012): Updated the texture to give it more of the aged paper look I was going for. This is a lot closer to what I was going for, hope you still like it, too.

Some of these monsters are intriguing, but oy there are so many seasons to go through on Netflix...

For what it's worth, Doctor Who is one of those shows that you tend to burn through a lot faster then you'd expect. Real "binge watch" material.

Moffat is pretty dark and creepy, is he inspired by horror or something? The Empty Child is one of my favorite episodes.

fear of children, fear of clocks ticking, fear of statues, fear of shadows( as a result of a fear of the little floaty bits in sunlight), fear of my own memory.

Okay Moffat.....are you done making me terrified of EVERYTHING?

This is great, you should consider offering it as a shirt through a site like red bubble it's a great design and they are some of the more popular monsters from the show so it would sell well.

Thanks! I actually do plan on selling prints of this when I start working conventions in the spring. I hadn't really considered shirts. I may have to look into that.

Prints are popular but doctor who shirts seem to be a really big thing as there's a lot of the teenage fans who like shirts especially the cute or funny ones. I recently went to the doctor who symphonic spectacular and 4 out of 5 people wearing doctor who shirts were wearing fan art designs rather than the official shirts.

Looks more like the beginnings of a Doctor Who baddy Abbey Road. You could call it Baddy Road.

Ha! I actually considered that at one point. While coloring it, I considered swapping out the background for a picture of the road. lol I like your title, too.

One thing I love about the new series is the Moffat Monsters. They're capable of terrifying kids and adults alike, whereas the campy monsters of the old series were only just enough to frighten kids. With the possible exception of the Daleks, who utilize the Refuge in Audacity trope in exterminating all their enemies.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TravisTheGeek In reply to MountainLygon [2012-10-08 00:16:45 +0000 UTC]

I wouldn't write off the classics entirely, but it does help that the monsters aren't made of tinfoil and bubble wrap anymore. lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MountainLygon In reply to TravisTheGeek [2012-10-08 01:54:36 +0000 UTC]

It's not so much what they're made of. The spider props in Jon Pertwee's last story still made me squeamish because of the concept. Sure, Shelob wasn't as impressive as Peter Jackson's version, but the idea of humans being ruled by giant spiders is still enough to send a shiver down my spine. And that's the strength of the Moffat Monsters. Shadows that melt flesh? Statues that kill you if you blink? Memory proof monsters that have been manipulating your entire history just so some strange woman with an eye patch can pursue an unexplained vendetta against a madman with a box? Now that's creepy.

Imagine a cross-breed.

A statue that kills you as soon as you forget about it.

Now THAT is a Lonely Assassin.

Silent Angel: Yay, I just made a new friend, we'll play together and stay friends forever.

friend walks away.

S A: Wait, I thought we were gonna play together?

Friend: Where did you come from? Do I know you?
