Description Haven't really done anything personal in a while so here it is - another "man staring at a desolate, fantasy landscape"-piece. About 6 hours in PS.

The rocks themselves are not any stock images. They are created using textures from here: cgtextures.com/ ---> rocks ----> cliffs

Amazing man! Can ask you a question? how you did the mountain? how you give at the mountain the form you want, is like a  paint ! Great job man!

Tri5tate In reply to Dukeiam [2014-07-22 13:25:11 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!
I just lasso paint them. Basically just use the lasso tool to form a mountain shape how to want it, then fill it will texture and adjust with dodge/burn or paint in overlay mode to give it more depth and 3D feel. It might take some time to get the right shape, but it gives alot of detail.

June 2, 2014

Men often walk alone in their surroundings.  This is just part of our makeup as protectors, defenders, and providers.  Thus the sense of isolation is supremely intense at times.  You depicted this so perfectly.  Your six hours of labor paid off!!

ShortCircuit123 In reply to Tri5tate [2014-06-02 23:00:48 +0000 UTC]

Really good work!  I hope i get to your level of pm one day, creating landscapes isnt one of my strongest points hehe. The lighting is just reaaally good. How do you start which such a concep? A quick sketch to difine the composition and objects? Or more of a look and use what stock images you find and see where it will go? Or both? Just curious hehe

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tri5tate In reply to ShortCircuit123 [2014-06-03 09:19:43 +0000 UTC]

Actually I dont sketch too often. I build the image in my mind, which can be quite tricky at times. Sometimes I let the image evolve based on what textures I use and so forth, but when I created this one I really wanted the pointy mountains and the desolate, barren landscape with a warm tone. I have inspiration from movies / games in my head that I use as references.

So I don't really let the stock pictures decide, but a texture or a picture can inspire me to take a new approach.

I will try get a WIP up on Behance later this day so you can see a small part of the workflow. I will link it here and let you know. Thanks!
