Description *EDIT* I am a terrible person who missed the bit at the end of the book where Wendy talks about what color the fairies glow. Girls glow white, Boys - Mauve and those who don't know what they are glow blue ^_^ Soooo, changed the fairy dust to match what she is ^_^ The gold had to go.

______________________________________________________________________________________-

Merry Christmas, those of you who celebrate! If you don't, Merry December 25th ^_^ (From the Fuuuutuuureee ahaha time zoooness).

Anyway, here is a little Xmas present from me to all of you. A close up of Tink, colored! I wanted to draw Tink actually doing her job, since we don't see much of that (seeing as pretty much all of the versions left that part out). So here we are, Tinkerbell the Tinker!

I used Paint tool sai, and I've been working on getting a copic marker effect. Hope it looks ok ^_^ Added the fairy dust in photoshop.

Enjoy!

Yeah, I wanted to break that mold ^_^ Aahah, I'm going through a bit of grumpy phase when it comes to the Disney version at the moment ^_^;;;

Why the grumpy phase?

well, I enjoyed the movie when I was young, so I watched it for nostalgic purposes recently, and I couldn't get through 20 minutes of the movie without yelling about how much was wrong ^_^;; I just had to turn it off. My eyes have been opened to how many incorrect things the Disney version has spread through our culture since most people have seen it, but never read the book. So, I'm pretty grumpy towards it ^_^;;;

Ah . . . understand the feeling, went through that several years ago actually, but it was brief. Still love the Disney movie, though, and I enjoy the 2003 live-action version just as much.

I love the music and the animation, but I can't get over some of the mistakes ^_^;; LOVE the 2003 version though.

Which mistakes/changes annoy you the most? And don't say all of them.

LOL. Well, the hook being on the wrong hand (and Wendy correcting John to the wrong one), Michael playing Peter in their games, The youngest always gets stuck playing Hook, Mr Darling and his obsession with Wendy growing up, Wendy and trying not to grow up, Mrs Darling not being in character (and she's the story teller, not Wendy. Wendy only tells stories that her mother has told her) etc. That's about as far as I could get before I had to turn it off. And don't even get me started on how they destroyed Hook. The 2003 version is the best version of hook, by far. And I'm sure there are more points, but I just couldn't bring myself to watch any more ^_^;;;

rofl . . . yup, know what you mean. Yes, though, I prefer the crocodile from Disney, he had so much more character, but if I want Hook, I will watch the 2003 version.
BTW, what are your thoughts on the mighty hero?

On Peter? I think 2003 was way more accurate. He's a little out of character in the Disney version, but I can't really remember the movie all that well, I'd have to watch it again ^_^;;

Aurora-Mandeville In reply to TriaElf9 [2012-12-25 17:25:28 +0000 UTC]

Guess so, still like both of them. There was one problem with the book, children actually remember more than what we give them credit for, so it really didn't make sense that Peter would forget something ten minutes later.

TriaElf9 In reply to Aurora-Mandeville [2012-12-26 00:19:42 +0000 UTC]

Oh, that aspect wasn't really child related, I always figured that was worked in with him being not all human ^_^

Aurora-Mandeville In reply to TriaElf9 [2012-12-26 05:08:01 +0000 UTC]

Interesting, I still think he was all human (correction, is ). But it still irks me, don't know why.

Hehe, well, I recently read Peter Pan in Kensington gardens, and it turns out the reason he never grows older and can fly is that he's part bird, or something.
Yeah. Oh, the other thing that most versions do is imply that Neverland is why Peter never grows up, but in the book, the lost boys are always growing up, so that's not the case ^_^;;

Aurora-Mandeville In reply to TriaElf9 [2012-12-26 19:24:22 +0000 UTC]

Well, I actually like that Neverland is a place of never-aging, one could hint that it was in the same "world" as Oz (which is where I'm going with my latest fanfic idea).
Well, the part bird bit doesn't make sense as birds still would grow up and Peter only ages a year every hundred years or so.

TriaElf9 In reply to Aurora-Mandeville [2012-12-27 00:54:40 +0000 UTC]

According to the book, Neverland is just the place kids go in their head to play, but is also exists in solid form somewhere on earth. It's also a scary place at times, which the other versions tend to skip over ^_^;;
Well, you have to read the book, birds are something special in Barrie's books ^_^;; He has to become part bird to fly, because he forgets how to fly and once you forget, you can never fly again...unless you undergo becoming non-human.
Yeah, Peter's age is really unclear in all the versions. In the first book, he's just a baby, but then in the actual Peter Pan book, he's clearly older. I always took it as that the origin story was true, but that it also wasn't the same? Like, Barrie wrote one to explain stuff, but then updated and changed Peter for the main story.

Aurora-Mandeville In reply to TriaElf9 [2012-12-27 02:46:13 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, well they really took the scary stuff and went with it in Peter Pan & the Pirates, even Hook is scary!! Well, he doesn't look it, but he certainly acts like it.
lol . . . I have read both.
That's what gets to me, and part of the reason why I agree with newer versions depicting Neverland as an enchanted island. It makes so much sense that he grew while in Kensington Gardens and stopped when he got to Neverland. As for the lost boys, some could have just wanted to grow, and Peter let them come back to Earth to do so. It's the same with Baum's books, he adds stuff in later books that end up making no sense when compared to earlier books (i.e. Dorothy becomes blonde when she was originally brunette, while Ozma is depicted as brunette though she is actually blonde).

Yeah, I always figured that it was magical in a fairy tale way. Like, we don't know how he got older, but he jsut did and we accept it. The fact of the matter is that the Lost boys do continue to grow up on the island, and Peter kicks them out when they get too old. Though, Barrie doesn't specifically say that, he says that Peter "thins them out" which is SO SUPER CREEPY ^_^;;;

Aurora-Mandeville In reply to TriaElf9 [2012-12-27 17:44:06 +0000 UTC]

lol . . . ikr? I think that's why the newer variations have said that Neverland did that to him instead of it being just him. Makes more sense that way.

Hehe, well, I'll stick with the original I think. Him not being human also explains a lot of his other eccentricities, but if it's Neverland that's the magical place, it kind of takes the magic away from Peter, for me at least ^_^;;

Aurora-Mandeville In reply to TriaElf9 [2012-12-28 19:17:29 +0000 UTC]

Well, it can be both. After all, Peter was the only person who actually flew throughout the movies. Yes, Wendy and her brothers did fly, but not as often as Peter did.

TriaElf9 In reply to Aurora-Mandeville [2012-12-29 00:32:14 +0000 UTC]

Well, they did a ton of flying in the book, even if they weren't very good at it ^_^ The movies cut a lot of that out. The interesting aspect of the book is that the Darlings have actually been to Neverland, in their minds, so they have a whole thing with it already. Peter gets pretty grumpy about it ^_^
