Tommy Richardsen // Trichardsen // Facebook // 500px // Google+ // InstagramThat figure on the right side is my brother furiously searching the beach for his lenscap
Luckily we did find it and he also managed to get a couple of shot of this amazingly strong aurora flare which lasted no more than 10 minutes from start to finish.
Captured in Steinsvik, Nordreisa, Troms, Northern Norway.
08.02.2014 - Nikon D800, Zeiss 15mm f2.8, Iso 1600, 3 seconds.
4 Vertical shots stiched into a panorama.

Thank you very much.
And actually that is the moon shining right there, not the sun, but It might just look like it because the image is a bit overexposed to get the foreground details in.

Ah; I wasn't entirely sure which it was, moon or sun, so I just picked one and guessed. It's still absolutely amazing.

This photo makes me wish I lived around the Arctic Circle region, but I guess the Winter is bitterly cold. I'm not a fan of the green colour, but I do like it in this photo.

January especially here gets nasty cold, we had 40 days of below -10 degrees C in a row this winter, you certainly start to feel that after a while.
It most often comes in shades of green.
And thank you.

Thank you.
He is quite thrilled about it himself, he just got his new camera a day before this shot, so would be really annoying to loose the lenscap so early on.

Yeah that is something you cannot hear while standing on earth watching it you need low frequency receiver, a converter and some speakers to be able to hear it, but it does in a sense make sound yes.
And thank you very much.

Wow amazing! I love the aurora and its reflections in the ice/water (is it all frozen?) It is nice that the reflection is both at the left and right side at the points where it is the most near the horizon. It looks really bright tough there is still light far away, I thought you more saw it when it is really dark! (I have seen an aurora once by luck in Russia (not even so north and in the summer, we didn't even thought of it first). I think your brother is a nice extra detail in this picture, my focus first went more to the aurora then too him, but I think he is positioned nice there in the darker corner. It really is an amazing shot!

At the to of the beach there is solid hard ice, then it gets gradually softer sand towards the water.
You do see it more often when it is really dark but the stronger the aurora is the more it starts overpowering every other light and you can see it during full moon with ease.
And thank you very much.

Thanks, nice with all the ice! (its here >30 C so strange idea at the moment). Strong aurora´s must be really beautiful to see! Good luck with your photography!

And thank you again.

Wow! Wow! Wow! That is amazing. I must say, having the beach and the mountains, and moon, plus your brother looking for his lenscap rather than staring, mesmerized, up at the aurora, really adds to the picture. Amazing work.
