UPDATE: Flat colours addedWork in progress.
I haven't uploaded anything for a few days - that's quite a while for me - so here's a sketch of something I've been working on. It's one of the designs that will fill up an empty space in my dex, a dragon/fighting type called Shenfu based on chinese dragons and those old martial arts masters from kung fu movies with a small DBZ reference thrown in. He will get a pre-evo as well! He wears his spiky tail - which changes colour to black as he wins more battles - around his waist like a belt.
Enjoy!

Lol I thought it was a reference to the song "Do You Really Like It" by DJ Pied Piper when he says it at the start and now I feel ashamed of myself for being so stupid haha. By the way, love the design and anatomy of this one!

Heheh I haven't heard that one (but there are song references in my titles, so don't feel bad ) thank you, it was tough to get the poses right, but I'm pleased they came out ok

While they're grappling it can just go 'Surprise motherfucker' and dragon tail Hariyama

Trueform In reply to Sir-Fakemon [2014-02-14 13:32:16 +0000 UTC]
That would be an unpleasant surprise for Hariyama

TBH at first I thought the dragonballs were mandarins

You could try eating them if you want. But then you'd have dragonballs in your mouth.

Maybe it can be dragon/fighting but can learn water moves? .o.
π: 0 β©: 1
Trueform In reply to Sir-Fakemon [2014-02-17 11:17:22 +0000 UTC]
That would make sense I figure it could probably learn quite a few different move types

Chinese Dragons are usually related to water, occasionally wind (when they make rain) and earth, just a few references

Trueform In reply to Sir-Fakemon [2014-02-17 11:29:37 +0000 UTC]
Thanks yeah they also sometimes show 'magical' powers too. Quite fascinatng really to compare them to Western dragons
π: 0 β©: 1
Sir-Fakemon In reply to Trueform [2014-02-17 11:48:32 +0000 UTC]
Perhaps some Psychic attacks?
And yeah, the contrast of powers are amazing

Trueform In reply to Sir-Fakemon [2014-02-17 14:05:07 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, teleport would work well with the DBZ references, but I'm sure there are plenty of others that would fit.
It sure is, and their natures are completely different too!

So many type coverage, it'd be the OU Fakemon D;
Yeah

Yush, 'a small DBZ reference.'Β The closest thing we'd get to someone wishing Shenron was a pokemon
Which is why I love this design so much xD The color scheme looks great (are the arms gonna be the same texture as its horns? o3o) and I like the idea you've got for the tail. As for the facial hair and whiskers... freaking epic
A wonderful concept for the unique dragon/fighting type

Trueform In reply to VoidOfValor [2014-02-14 12:42:02 +0000 UTC]
Thanks my friend heheh it's so hard for me not to think of DBZ when I think of a dragon/fighting type
I did picture the arms being the same texture as the horns too
I went for a hint of the old martial arts master trope with the facial hair/whiskers... I was thinking of Pai Mei from Kill Bill

VoidOfValor In reply to Trueform [2014-02-15 08:56:38 +0000 UTC]
Always welcome I definitely wouldn't have thought of it but it makes perfect sense now after putting two and two together xD ...guilty of not watching Kill Bill. Can see the resemblance, though Shenfu would definitely win the award for most magnificent facial hair AND whiskers without a doubt. Just look at it ouo

Trueform In reply to VoidOfValor [2014-02-15 19:59:03 +0000 UTC]
Hahahah he'd be very pleased to hear that Kill Bill is a pretty cool couple of films (they were actually filmed as one I believe so I count them as a single one really) but yeah, Pai Mei was influenced by martial arts master tropes anyway

Ah so this is that dragon design you talked about a while back! I must say this Fakemon looks really well done! I like the concept and design to it and it seems like it could benefit from a massive attack stat!Β
π: 0 β©: 2
Trueform In reply to dalejandre1 [2014-02-14 12:38:48 +0000 UTC]
Thaks so much, yeah I was thinking a heavy physical attack stat would suit too sometimes it takes a while for these ideas to form - althoguh I have the concept, I like to wait until I have an image of what I want before attempting it

And this goes with the last comment cause I just refreshed my page....the color on it looks nice! The green , black, yellow and red really complement each other!Β

Now that I have taken a closer look at it....moustache or whiskers? Either one will do, though....I don't know I've always liked the whiskers on Chinese dragons.

Trueform In reply to ryulover19 [2014-02-14 12:37:51 +0000 UTC]
A combintion of both really - it' indicative of whiskers but leaning more toward moustache

SamuelDesigns [2014-02-14 02:25:22 +0000 UTC]
cool. although I would have suggested something lighter. Maybe a little less stereotype of a regular dragon... like Dragonite but still looks like the pokemon form of the dragon of Dragon ball Z

Trueform In reply to SamuelDesigns [2014-02-14 12:39:51 +0000 UTC]
Thank you I initially wanted a lighter more spritely form, but it didn't work out and the proportions didn't suit it
