He was bubbled when he was in the geode by his mom to protect him, then after two weeks, the bubble popped and he hatched, a roaming ship landed nearby, and a Jade heard his cries.
She takes him on board her ship...and Sells him to a Red Jasper. Which in turn, Onyx is taken in by RJ's boss Red Diamond. He was close to Onyx's mom.
