Description
The assignment seemed simple enough to the other students that week as they all went to go to work. Dovev was, however, unsure as to what was required. He'd never heard of a Zen garden before but followed along closely behind the others. Only a short walk away they seemed to reach their destination, a large open field with many rocks and lots of sand. He couldn't help but wonder if these wyngrew had perhaps learnt how to use the sand to grow rocks, or perhaps they were using the rock to make sand, but for what purpose. The fox silently watched as the other students paired up and went to work, using their magic to move little stones about and place them in new places. It was such a strange thing to do, so pointless and yet, they seemed to be having fun?
He needed more information on this. For a long time, Dovev simply snuck around the Zen garden, watching the wyngrew as they worked, but never really understanding why. When he came across a strange wyngro that looked like Azoth, he decided to ask her.
"Hello." Dovev said, trying not to startle the prone wyngro, he thought for a moment before carefully forming his words "Will you help me understand?"
"Hmmm?" came the response, eyes fluttered open to look at the dark quad. "Oh, hello," she said, turning her attention to him. "Help you understand what?" she asked, seeming almost lost in her thoughts.
"Magic and Zen." He replied after a pause. "Help me understand, please?"
The female seemed to completely deflate at this words "Oh, I'm sorry, but you'll have to find someone else to help you."
Without a hesitation Dovev slunk off, trying to find another wyngro to help him understand, but the only other wyngro alone seemed to be far too deep in thought and Dovev did not want to disturb yet another. On his own in the field, Dovev looked to a small stone near his claws. He could not understand the purpose of this, but he could at least attempt to move the stones. After all, that's all they were doing, right? With a little bit of focus, Dovev easily found the stone sliding across the sand, slicing large bold lines into the earth as it went. The sand seemed to hold the shape really well, perhaps he could practice his writing with this? For the next hour, Dovev spent his homework time moving the little stone about, writing down the names of everything he saw; sand, sky, rock, water, tree a.s.o. He never did discover the meaning of Zen, though he did try spelling it a few times, at least he could tell Azoth he had practised!
Originally I wanted to do this final week of homework as a painting, but life got a bit too busy with work and tablet troubles. That being said I am super happy with the poses and anatomy in this! I even experimented with a different way to do shading, it was fun, though I need to play with it a bit more before I use it again.
And with this image uploaded, I am free from homework!!
Sorry Dovev, but those horns are going away now

Wonderful poses in this, Sand. I like the use of three points of focus here with the wyngrew as well. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your story as usual and feel you did really well at conveying Dovev's nature. His interaction with Inka really made me chuckle (that poor girl.)
Thank you once again for adding Wiel to this piece! That view of his back is crazy good and I applaud you on that pinata fur detail. :]

I am really glad you like them, I spent a crazy amount of time sketching em to get them right, so really happy my work is being appreciated ^^
Dovev is fun to write, always interesting to try and figure out how he would see things.
Poor Inka, clearly earth magic is just not her thing, if only she had been in a different class.
It was my pleasure, I'm happy you approve, I love drawing the boy's pinata fur, it's so much fun!

So much happened this set of classes and you can see it with the dead Inka and Wieli, haha. I love that Dovev seems practically oblivious to all of this too. It's kinda like the distance between him and the other two earth students shows how out of the loop he is with everything.
I love it allllll fantastic work as alwayyyyyssssss

I still can't believe you murdered my Imp in broad freakin' daylight Sand.
SHE EVEN HAS LIKE A BLUE TINT TO HER EYES. SHE DEAD. THEY HID THE BODY AND EVERYTHING.
(Seriously it's like the first thing I saw when I woke up and I laughed way harder then I should have)
Lol poor gros. xD
"Can you help plz?"
"No I kinda suck sorry"
I bet a lot of students came to Inka for help or to partner up because she's an imp and it just steadily makes her feel more and more like shit. ALAS.
Dovev always looks awsome highlighted with blue. >D That steely raccoon.

Her eyes are closed Nes >.> everything is shaded in blue, cause blue is totally zen
The story was fun to write, Dovev just does not get it, he probably thinks he did something wrong. XD
Poor Inka, I'm sure you'll be better at a different type of magic!
Thanks, glad you like ti, it's always fun to match his shading with his eyes!
