Description

After an exhausting afternoon of errands and visiting the markets Pappy and Silas finally returned home. The warm little cottage a welcome sight to its weary inhabitants. The tired pair had spent the morning travelling back to Wynsiph after a few days of adventure at the Caravine Cliffs. The mother-son duo had spent their days exploring the hidden caves behind the waterfalls, flying through the ice cold clouds and Silas had swum in the beautiful waters at the base of the cliffs, while his mother watched from the dry banks of the lakes. Now, back home, at last, all their adventurous energy was thoroughly spent.

“Go wash up, sweetie,” Pappy said with a yawn, “Momma could use your help making dinner and then we can put some of these treasures away.” His mom gestured to a bag filled with things they had decided were too precious to leave behind.

“Alright, mom,” he said, hurrying off to wash his claws of the day's explorations, eager to inspect the treasure he had found. While his mom had found a few flower and stones to add to her garden, Silas’ prize had been something far more precious. An old, wooden box, with many metal prongs, fixed to the one side of it. The old abandoned box was beautifully ornate, perhaps something a centuries-old traveller had forgotten in one of the many caves they had explored.

As Silas mused about what his treasure could be he started to become aware of an odd sensation on his tired claws. They had been hurting for days, he’d merely thought all the hiking was getting to them, but now it wasn’t just a sensation of pain, rather...touch?

He lifted his leg and inspected his foot.

Nothing on that side, twisting it around he found the culprit of the strange feeling. An odd, pointy lump, like a tiny version of his claws.

“What?” he wondered allowed, checking his other sore claw and sure enough another had appeared on that side too.

“What are these?” The imp asked aloud, looking the strange growths over.
“Wait…”
Flexing his claws, his heart skipped a beat as the mini claw moved too.
“No way…”
After a moment of stunned silence, Silas ran out of the washroom, yelling for his mom at the top of his lungs. He’d gained two treasures on his trip, not only did he have his mystery box, but finally it was his turn; he was finally starting to grow up too!

At long last little Silas is growing up, seems the little guy is super excited and who can blame him?
I wonder just how excited his mom is gonna be?
