The lady of the Rose sat on the carpet, slumped and cross legged. Tears wound their way down the wrinkled landscape of her face.
Paul sat on the floor before her, throat tight. The lady had never cried before.
"Is he dead then?" He broke the silence.
"No. no. Lord, how I wish he were."
"My lady?"
"It would be far better to be birthing flowers from your body than be in the hands of the demon." She paused to inhale a shaky breath. "Paul, you found the dead unicorn?"
"Yes, yes, in a trap in Simon's field." He shuddered at the memory of red blood on snow white hair.
"He was the one who killed it. The only way to find the undying demon is to place a unicorn's heart in a lantern and follow its light. The demon requires such a sacrifice to prove one's... seriousness."
"But why?"
"His last child died in a Sook raid. I suspect revenge." The lady looked up at the carved ceiling. "Get the monks together and have them gather everyone in the cathedral by nightfall. Tomorrow is a new moon and the demon loves the dark."

I'm not entirely sure if I should post this since it's an hours worth of noodling (and then another for the story).

Sometimes I wonder if I should keep playing around with different styles or just stick with one and practice enough to finally get good.

Also, can you tell I just bought another Hellboy trade?
