no secrets! 2nd year at schuler school, but many years of architectural drawing has helped my painting. Although color doesn't matter without good use of value, my palette is usually: ivory black, ultramarine blue, viridian, alizaron crimson, cad red, cad orange, burnt umber, burnt sienna, transparent gold ochre, cad yellow, cad lemon, and 50/50 mix of titanium white and cremnitz white.

I know what you mean--- 30 years engineering here!!
I enjoy the "light on form" aspect of finding the face and figure. I always find myself reconciling the light angles and triangulating locations etc..
I have a good friend who draws totally gesturally (if that's a word) and we have the most interesting discussions. Neither one of us understands a word the other is saying but oh well!!
Know that I enjoy your work although I don't comment much. you paint and draw a lot like I do and now that fits --- as I find out you are a tech-nerd too.

I love the spirit of this. The lower half seems a tad out of proportion in comparison to the upper half.
Beautiful, nonetheless.
