I like the "autumn into winter" time of year, when the leaves of summer are still around, scattering further with every chilled gust through the stark tree skeletons standing against a darkening sky...and you've captured some of its delightful air and moodiness very well!
I'm not sure how I'd capture this any differently than you did! The scene's "captivation" in wanting to wrap the coat a little tighter and strolling that roadway to see what's around the turn is something you caught!
There is a more interesting "visual drama" with a curved leading line into an image, rather than just a plain straight one. Three cheers for finding yours in the moody woods.
The viewer's eyes have much to enjoy and find in your image, which is a very good thing to have them doing.
