Description
This is a 'reverse griffon' of sorts. Normally the front half of a griffon would be a bird and the rear a mammal. In this case the rear is a flightless bird, kiwi sp, and the forequarters are a flighted mammal, a grey headed flying fox. The flying foxes are local to where I grew up and a group of them used to roost in a neighbor's tree. They might be cute and sport a gorgeous rufus ruff but they are plunderers of all your good fruit. They're not quite as vocal as sulfur crested cockatoos, but they're still pretty noisy.
His name is Fluffbut. Early on in painting this it looked like he had a really big fluffy but. The name stuck.
