This is a beginners guide for creating you very own visual style / Theme for windows Vista by res hacking the .msstyle
The tutorial contains simple instructions and all the links to the software you need.
Some (image) resource locations are also included.

Just follow the instructions, but instead of opening the .msstyle file with Notepad(which just shows gibberish), open it up with Restorator and edit the properties in the last folder (version). Remember to run as Admin

Is it possible to make vista visual styles without using Restorator 2007 or Resource Tuner? I would like to be able to do it with just freeware programs like ResHacker, Tiny Hexer, and other programs; but I don't know how to do it. Anybody's help would be much appreciated.

The my Theme Template from Mediafire
This will install a copy of the original aero theme and place all the required files into the correct locations with Jemaho’s Improved Shellstyle, ready for modifying.

Make sure to add "GIMP" [link] as an alternate program (that saves in an aero-compatible png file) than the alpha image converter.
