Description
"Get off my freakin' ship or you'll leave through the airlock!"Watching the man on the screen's surface the space pirates couldn't help but wonder if it might have been a mistake trying to take over this particular ship...
~~~
Inspired by two things: Shadow Complex on the Xbox360 (awesome Arcade Download title) and upcoming movie "Pandorum". I had a pic of the main heroine in a similar pose. If it is not quite clear: Those lines are supposed to be flickering of the camera, just as the pixeled Security Cam *lol* I didn't want to reduce the quality of the whole pic so this must be enough *lol*
Firefly was love... I think I even remember the episode you were talking about ^^ Never thought of that while making the pic but it really fits
I love the effects on this work, it looks very real indeed.
Actually i'm not big fan of 3d art because lots of people make them look like cheap and quick art.
But you really showed to put effort in this one.
That's the problem with 3D. People who think that clicking thrice and rendering makes art. It's like buying art, not making it. I started with quick pics and presets, too, but you really have to evolve. But cheap pics take away the audience for those which really contain a lot of work.
Thank you!
Indeed, I was loosing my faith in 3d artists for that same reason.
tons of two click 3d art.
You are welcome
I'm not an expert on digital art by any stretch, though I've followed some of the better online comics which use digital art. (Believe me, there is a lot of crappy digital work out there!!) This shot is excellent -- believable pose, the look in the eyes, the skin details -- they all work... except for the knife hand. It's too much of a ham fist. Doesn't look like it's holding the knife handle, ready to USE it. Not sure what exactly it needs, but it just doesn't look right.
The overall effect of the picture is great though!
Thank you very much for the compliment and the great critique! I'm happy you like it and I always try to make my 3D renderings as high in quality as I can.
I get your point with the knife hand, I'm not happy with it either. I postworked it a bit but I'm still not satisfied with the outcome. But I really have to get to bed (it's late in Germany) so I guess I will corrected with a partial re-rendering tomorrow
Thanks again!
It is funny how many people now use 3D rendering software to make online comics. Sort of feels like cheating, since it does so much work for you, but in reality, it's just another tool, not unlike a camera. Any hack can snap a picture, but it takes a real artist to see and capture a great shot. In the same way, any fool can throw a couple of characters into a scene, move them around and come up with a half decent picture, but it takes a really good eye to come up with something that is natural looking, and with a sense of motion or tension. I think that's what you've done well. Maybe put the whole character a little more off balance, and that will give the sense of a sudden change in direction, as someone who's just figured out he's been detected, and has to react quickly.
