Description

On his feet again, Jonathan retreated backwards to the stairs, the only way left for him to go. Velkan, obviously sure that they wouldn’t be interrupted this time, walked towards him in an almost casual pace now. He was a gruesome sight. Blood, Tariq’s blood, clung to his beard and dripped down on his torn shirt.
“Velkan… I know you’re in there…” Jonathan almost tripped as the back of his foot hit the lowest step.
“Please… stop…”
Velkan tilted his head and looked at Jonathan for a moment, his face absolutely blank. Then, his lips curled up, revealing his sharp fangs and he snarled, lunging at Jonathan who threw up his arm and, in a desperate effort, channelled all the power he could muster into his voice and his magic. He let out an angry scream and the spell hit Velkan right in the chest, tossing him back across the hall. Jonathan didn’t even wait for him to land, he turned and bolted up the stairs as fast as his crippled state allowed it.
