This is damn chilling. His facial expression looks so disapproving. This is one of those rare cases where "I don't like it" is a compliment; the skill with which you've drawn them really haunts me. Part of me wants to know the story here and part of me wants to run away now, fast, before I associate Sonic with my ex and his constant disapproval and abuse.

This was 100% a compliment and you don't need to apologize for anything. It's incredibly well-done artwork and the subtlety in his expression is damn near impossible to find in our fandom.
I wanted you to know how real your art made something, even if it was that unpleasant. In my mind, that's the mark of a great artist more than mere technical skills and proportions. You can do both.

I find this artwork disturbing. I find it disturbing because it's good. It's well-drawn and it evokes strong feelings.
It happens to evoke similar feelings to the ones I experienced when I was abused, yes.
I welcome comments on my artwork comment on its emotional content, especially the pieces of a more disturbing character. I certainly appreciate them more than the jokes I sometimes get on some of my darkest pieces, or the blithe "nice picture" I get on pieces that come from a very personal place. But I generally don't complain about comments on my art unless they're abusive. I'm just grateful people looked.
You think I'm insulting your friend's work. I'm not. I'm paying the highest compliment I can pay. I'm saying that not only is she a good enough artist to evoke in me feelings I don't want to remember, but that her technique under that is good enough to keep me looking at the horrific thing long enough to comment, because I can't bring myself to leave good artwork unpraised.
I thought the word "compliment" made my attitude toward the piece as a work of art pretty apparent, even though I was honest about my attitude toward what the piece objectively depicts.

I like the atmosphere in this drawing >w< It's so calm and yet so exciting! I love how Sonic looks a bit hesitant and wondering at the same time, but I mostly love the fact that his hand is caressing the side of Amy's head
