I still like their "fight" in the Marvel/DC crossover. Β It's just the two of them posturing and staring at each other without any actual punches exchanged, because that's what final bosses do.
That being said, Darkseid might be a bit stronger, but Thanos has a lot more experience and knowledge.

True, but if this is a robot, then the IG is a fake.
Besides, we've seen Thanos taking hits from Odin (the same that knocked out the Silver Surver) and taking a full blast from Galactus. I'm not saying Thanos is stronger, but no way one puch from Darkseid does that much damage.
Besides I can't see Thanos taking on an unknown opponent without studying him first. You see, I see the man difference between them in tactics. Darkside plans his campaigns well, but in direct combat he is a brawler, counting on his strength, power and omega beams to defeat hs enemies. Which should be no surprise as there are few that can match him in the DC Universe. Thanos on the other hand studies his opponents before engaging them if he can. If his strength and power are enough, so be it. If not, he will find a weakness or trick his opponent somehow. The Marvel Universe has a few more beings that are much more powerful than Thanos, so he has to be a bit more careful than Darkseid.
I wouldn't even put it beyond him to send in a clone of himself that believes he has the real IG. That way he could study how strong Darkseid is without any risks to himself.
At least that's my point of view.

With the Infinity Gauntlet I fear this is a very very one sided fight. Without the total power given by it, then it would be very close. It is an amazing scene though. Well done.

You see, DC characters have infinite power. Whatever it may be, DC always has βinfiniteβ power.
Flash isnβt fast, heβs the fastest... whatever... alive.
Green Lantern doesnβt have willpower, he has endless reserves of it.
Superman isnβt strong, heβs stronger than anything. Heβs even stronger than characters that were stronger than him previously.
and Batman... heβs more powerful than all of them. Faster reflexes than Flash, able to commandeer the lanterns ring, out punched Superman.
when Darkseid shot him with instant-kill eye beams it wasnβt enough, Batman just quantum leaped through time and came back and beat him up.
If you place him in an unimaginable situation that is impossible to prepare for, heβll at some point assumed he would end up in an unimaginable situation that would be impossible to prepare for... and come up with a plan... and stored that plan in his fanny pack.
i used to argue for Marvel characters, itβs easier just to acknowledge how ridiculous DC got with making heroes without limits. Itβs why theyβre so relatable.

Isn't the Infinity Gauntlet with all the Infinity Stones only supposed to have sway over everything that exists in the universe the Gauntlet itself originates. Meaning it has no power over Darkseid and no power at all when they aren't fighting in the Marvel Universe.

I like to think that the powers of the Infinity stones aren't affected by the Universe they're in, and hold sway over their respective affinities regardless of the Universe they're in.
