Set was mostly just fucked over by politicians who wanted to demonize him. His main crime was seducing Horus in what was basically a kind of "surprise sex" meant to un-man him.
The act of killing Aser/Osiris is presented as being an act of righteous vengeance, as Aser/Osiris had raped Set's wife.
