we all were excited, as our family seems to become when such things happen--
especially since this was the first of a season of similar joys.

he suggested that i take the car to the end of the road and shoot pictures of the contrasting black and lighter, but as i stepped from the dry house to the damp deck, the rain started.
hesitation got the best of me for a moment, then i took advantage and ran.

lacking seatbelt, license, and care for such laws, i sped towards the treeless hill and snapped a few photos right before the torrent came.

i drove home, much slower this time, remarking at the workout the windshield wipers were getting. sheets of rain turned the forest to white.

i sat at the top of our driveway, watching the rain pool and run down, waiting for a lull to make my escape back into the house.

granted, there was no such lull. and even now, the drops are still singing just as loud.

but this leaf seemed to want a way in from the wet cool.
i took a fancy to its transparency.
so i brought it in and let it rest in the computer for a while.
