this little angel has a new earthly assignment, she's just arrived, and is a bit lost

this is not really the scene i intended but i got totally distracted learning some new tools

i expect to do better once i get my vue-fu on

much postwork. the lighting still bugs me, pose is stiff, shadows are wrong, and i spent no time refining textures. but i'm tired of working on it and i like it anyway. so, there

Tools? there are tools? Yikes!

I am so the worst for mastering these things - I totally learn by trail and error (lots of!)

My cats consider themselves abused with all the swear words they learn when I start a new application!

poor kitties... i'll bet they then go and use that language in front of the other cats.

Luckily they are indoor cats - otherwise I dread to think what a bad influence the foul mouthed sianes would be!

You're far to hard on yourself. It looks great. cant see any major faults with the lighting or shadows at all!

Nice job.

thanks

i've been told i'm a bit of a perfectionist

well, far be if from me to point out the faults. but her position is too vertical; she's not resting on the ground properly. and the shadows on the trees don't match the visible light source. oh well, that's what happens when you do lighting post render

thanks i think i tend to be harder on myself when what i end up with doesn't match what's in my mind.

Amazing.
Don't let the frustration get to you, we all go through it. And any good artist is never satisfied with thier work.

thanks whenever the image doesn't match the image in my mind, i get frustrated. when i was younger i used to tear pages out of sketch books when i got frustrated

LOL
I used to do the same thing. I lost thousands, maybe millions of drawings that way. In fact when I was younger I would simply throw them away even if by some miracle I was remotely satisfied with one.

I doubt if we ever get a piece to match our minds eye.

if we did manage to have a piece match our mind's eye, we'd be done

You are somewhat right, because either it wouldn't be fun anymore for lack of a challenge or we would have gone totally insane which would make it too much fun.

But we would still be in the minority of people who have the ability to even conceive such things and have some talent to manifest them, even if we fall short.

i think i'm already totally insane. it just happens that my delusion frequently matches up with reality

Do you know the definition of insanity?
Doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting a differant outcome.

So you my dear are definitely sane, it is the world that is insane.
Having your dementia match up with your reality can be fun, but it is when they reverse and reality begins to match your delusions when it really becomes interesting. Because then it is effecting everyone's reality.
