My opinion on most shipkids is just kinda 'meh, they exist', and occasional confusion on why they apparently inherit clothing from their parents? But can I just say that I love Gauge because her outfit design is SO GOOD. Like it's so colorful and eclectic and you can get so much of her personality and likes from it, THAT'S how you design a character's wardrobe! Something even I'm still striving to improve at, though I still have a lot of fun with it. ^^

Most people just seem to design shipkids like a "fusion" between their parents. Like, mixing them together and their powers, and this is what comes out. Take Gradient for example. Literally nobody seems to acknowledge that he's not a shipkid of Error and Ink but a FUSION of these two, simply because shipkids are usually designed that way.
Thanks for liking Gauge so much! I honestly never thought she'd end up in the way she did - heck, I designed her for April Fool's as a JOKE! I honestly love her to bits so I'm glad when people enjoy her, too! >u<

I guess that people design kids that way out of fun and because it's the simplest thing to do? But also it doesn't really grab my attention ever, just makes them feel like extensions of their parents rather than their own individuals.
And I remember that April Fools, even if I didn't send in any questions! ^^ I'm glad to seem more of her!

Yup, I think so too. It can have some interesting results, but often than enough it just stays a drawing concept. To be fair though, that can be said about a lot of characters that were just designed for fun, so there's that. If people have fun creating these children, they should go for it. And some ship children are truly amazing and some of my favorite Undertale AU characters, like Goth >u<
