Description
First contact with the Tholian Assembly was in 2152 when they traveled far beyond their territory and actively sought to possess a 31st century time-travel pod discovered by the Earth starship Enterprise. The Tholians remained a threat to Starfleet for over 250 years by which point they became signatories in the Typhon Pact along with the Romulan Star Empire, Tzenkethi Coalition, Breen Confederacy, Gorn Hegemony, and the Holy Order of the Kinshaya.

Here, a Tholian battle group consisting of a Recluse battleship and a pair of Orb Weaver cruisers patrol the perimeter of Tholian space.
