Lady, you crack me up. Whenever I feel like I need to smile, I just surf through your gallery and read your hilarious descriptions. As for something that relates to the deviation: I cannot WAIT to try this out.

Thanks for the tip on Opaque projectors thats a good idea, I have not thought of before. I have a hard time sketching things BIG so this is very helpful. I couldn't find the Mc-trace-a-lot but I was able to come up wiht a couple of others and some in a similar price range which is good cheap is very good, I don't need the detai once I get the general shape I think I can go from there easily enough.. I haven't done anything useing traditional media in a while, years more then likely, I think I will give it a try.

Thanks a whole bundle for this Some very useful looking techniques- and media- here. Since I plan to start painting again soonish (I've been doing sketches and digital only for too long) this should come in handy
It's sort of like the pencil shading technique I usually use, but looser, more textured and colourful- and I probably would never have thought of it either *slaps self*
Thanks again!

Thanks so much for this! I dont do NEARLY as much traditional work as I'd like to (especially with paint and ink) so I do think I'll give this a try sometime

I've been sitting around lately going "Well, I'm back in the country where I have acrylic paints and stuff to slap them on now, but I don't know how to get a non-crappy sketch onto what I'm going to paint on (seeing as my sketches start dirtier than my mouth and I need to draw them on sketchy paper first)..."
EXCEPT NOW I KNOW.
D: thanks!

o_o I understand now. It all makes sense:
Life,
Death,
White Acrylic paints...
Everything. It all seems to come together.
And now I can die happy.
Because one of life's greatest mysteries- the scribbly-and-ink technique has been...
...
Un-mystery-atized.

I didn't know you just used squiggle lines to give the colors depth! That's so neat and so simple! At least by looking anyway! Probably harder than I think, but that's okay!

What a wonderful Tutorial. I love your "Disclaimer" at the beginning - very funny. I can't even imagine how many hours you have into each picture you do knowing how much time you take and care you take with all of it.
Great stuff!

I have pitt pens they are wonderful to use! I adore seeing how other artists do things I was soooo excited when I saw you post this cause I often find myself stareng at your images for hours trying to figure out how you got certain looks. It amused me to note that you go the oposite route from me with your sketches I tends to start out most of my sketches in my sketch book then I take it to the scanner and ink it with my trusty intuos tablet. But if I wanted to do good sized paintings useing the projector sounds like a wonderful way to go!
I have been meaning to get back to useing more traditional methods I have a drawing of my ferrets that I am somewhat happy with I may try your methods to color it I will link you when I have completed it! Thanks so much for posting this tutorial!

thank you for the awesome tutorial <3 very easy to follow through and fun to read as well. i'll have to try your current technique sometime this summer, it looks like lots of fun. a question, i have white acrylic ink but i'm wondering if white gouache would also do the trick? also i assume that you prefer the cold press to the hot press illo board so you actually have some tooth to the surface? i've used both for several different projects but still am not sure which one i prefer. just curious. again, lovely tutorial. i'd love to see any more tutorials that you'd come up with in the future~

White gouache isn't bad, but the white acrylic is more opaque, so you don't have to slather it on as thick.

This is one of the most insightful, and wonderfully written tutorials I've seen and read.
Not only is it informative, but it tells people that its OK to be sloppy! XD;
I really like this, I might have to try it sometime.

Thank you so, so much. I've always wondered how you got those fantastic textures on all of your work. I want to try out this technique now. ^^ (In fact, I will). Hopefully, pencil crayon/watercolour will do for the scribblies.. I only have a white acrylic pen.

Even though I'm probably not going to advance to this level of art in about a million years, the text accompanying the tutorial made me giggle 'til they had to come in with a needle.
Ever thought of being a comedian when your painting career has whithered away (may it never!)?
Great fan of your funny work, and the blurb along with it,
KafTaf*,~
