Description

I decided to spice up my MCU Reboot by adding Spider-Man Starring Donald Glover as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Mads Mikkelsen as Doctor Otto Octavius/Doc Ock/Doctor Octopus. I cast Glover because I couldn't really think of any of suggestions I liked the idea of that much. However I decided against casting him as Miles Morales, I thought it'd be better to just keep him as Peter Parker.

I decided to not use an origin story as everyone's fed up with seeing it by now and everyone knows what happens. So in this there'd just be a few shots of his origin like they did for the Punisher in Punisher: Warzone. Here Spider-Man is pretty early on in his career when one of his old teachers, Doctor Otto Octavius is doing a demonstation showcasing his new synthetic "tenticles" he has created. However the experiment goes wrong and Otta cannot control the tentacles, with them going out of control and accidently killing some people. Octavius flees the scene and goes into hiding. The media has dubbed him "Doc Ock" and "Doctor Octopus". Meanwhile Octavious has finally found what the falfunction was and since corrected it. He now wants to create an exo suit to go wih the tentacles, getting insperation from Ironman, so once he creates this suit he can redeem himself. He is however in need of money for this and goes to rob a bank. Spider-Man intervenes and the two fight, with Ock getting away. Ock's next target is to go to a metal workshop and steal some high quality metal to use for the suit. Meanwhile we see soem scenes of Peter hanging around with MJ and Harry. Then some police cars are seen and crashes heard and Peter "runs off" (his excuse is he has anxiety issues and gets scared whenever there's trouble, thus givign him a more realistic excuse). Spider-Man and Doc Ock once agan fight but Ock Runs off. Unknown to Spider-Man Ock follows him home and finds out Spider-Man is reallt Peter Parker, one of his former students. Knowing this, Ock kidnaps MJ (who he also used to teach thus knows about Peter beign in a relationship with her) and sends a message to Peter to meet him at his "hideout". Spider-Man does this and the two fight once again, Ock now armed with more weapons. However Spider-Man somehow eventually gets the better of Ock and shoves a crow bar in the power battery of his tentacles, rendering them useless. Ock is this defeated and sent to a high security prison.

I don't think I like Donald in the roll of peter.

In hindsight I'm not really too hot on the role either. Guess I thought he could pull it off though.

Would you be opposed to me borrowing the tentacles?

No, not at all, I'd be honoured. And tbh, I borrowed them off someone else's I found off the net, keep that to ourselves though.

As much as I love Donald Glover, Peter parker has an image and I just don't see it.

Meh that's fair enough. I couldn't think of any one else TBH though. I don't like a lot of the common casting choices.

Donald as Spidey, now THAT is a good call. Also like the idea of using Otto as the first villain and that is named ''Spectacular''. Great job !.

Thanks! Glad you like the idea.

Thanks, I thought it was about time we saw him again, as I didn't want to kick off the start of the spidey franchise with a more minor villain, but Green Goblin's already been used recently and Venom this early in his career wouldn't work. Plus it all just fitted.

And thanks again, I thought it was the best name to pick.

Why not use Miles Morales? If this were a real film, there'd be a massive fan-nation up roar.

Meh I see no need. Outside the geek community not many people really know about Miles Moarales, I myself even am not that familiar with him. Peter Parker is THE Spider-Man, everyone knows his story. However I thought Donald Glover would play Spider-man really well, colour does not matter. Just look at Kingpin in Daredevil, although most people didn't like the film (although I loved it), everyone agreed he was the best part of the film. And The Human Torch in the upcoming FF film is also black. If the Miles Moarales identity wasn't created then no one would care that I cast a black Peter Parker. Ok I suppose this is mildly similar to casting a black Hal Jordan or a white John Stewart in a Green Lantern film but this isn't QUITE the same. If I used Miles I'd also probably not be able to use the iconic red and blue costume plus I wanted Harry Osborn and MJ in this too, all the classic Spidey characters. Miles Morales doesn't really fit into that part of Spider-Man. This really is your traditional spidey film, with the core characters and so forth, Peter just happens to be black here though.

Fair enough, I personally would be fine with it like I'm fine with a black Johnny Storm, but there's no doubt there would be an upset geek community. Such as with there being a black Human Torch, or even Wonder Woman's boobs being too small. Stupid things that the community get upset over.

Peter Parker always seemed "Raceless" to me. He's a genius teenager who's living in a financially unstable single parent/guardian household in Queens, New York of all places. He could be any race really. But I always connect Johnny Storm with being white, I don't know why. He's like the quintessential white guy, prankster, irresponsible asshole with a heart of gold of the Marvel Universe.

Why use the Parker character when there's already a black character with an established backstory and fan-following?

Because Donald Glover fits Peter better than Miles. I mean this whole conversation is based on an extremely hypothetical situation. But IF Donald Glover were to play a black spider-man without folks going crazy, then I would prefer he play a black Pete Parker. He shouldn't have to play a character that he's not right for just because they happen to have the same skin color. Based on what I know (haven't kept up on comic in a while), I would want Marcus Scribner for Miles. He has the look down (biracial) and he's young. Or if they're shooting for older I'd go with Oren Williams or his brother Zachary Isaiah Williams.

Haha yeah I know how you feel, geeks can be like this. I always say the right man for the right job. I don't like it when they cast someone of different colour only to be politically correct, that really annoys me. But if say a black man can play a character who is traditionally white better than any white man then they should cast him. That's how I felt with Donal Glover as Spider-Man, I thought while Andrew Garfield played Spidey well, he was too sexy, he'd have never have gotten bullied and I wanted someone I thought could look really geeky. However I don't want anyone too ugly to play the role either, I thought Glover was the perfect balance between geeky and attractive. While a woman could easily find him attractive, he also could probably look really geeky and get bullied. Stick a pair of glasses on him, make him skinny and scrawny, make him stutter a bit even and he's a total geek, he'd get bullied.

Thank you! Glover exudes Peter Parker. I can't really see him being Miles.
