Oil on hardboardCan't seem to come up with a suitable title right now, but it should be something autumn-related and really deep
Which will cover the fact that this was actually based on drawing a plaster mask from various angles, without any clearer agenda than seeing what comes out of it. It took me all autumn though. I started it in the first session and finished in the last. I can always say it was subconscience at work, which it probably was.
At one point there was supposed to be more figures, and what looks like horn in the blue one's head was originally the cheek of a third statue.

It's odd, when I am depressed, I am more likely to write than paint which is nuts, really, because painting always makes me feel better.

They say writing should work, because you actually have to go through your experiences, which is always good.
At least it worked for me when I was depressed. It was especially helpful to read what I had written down, and realise that being depressed was a perfectly natural reaction to all the shit I had to deal with.

It's true, it is very like re-living it again in order to write about it, but I guess in a helpful way and not in a detrimental way as long as you can let go and let the healing begin, otherwise it's a wasted exercise.

Same old, periods of crippling ennui followed by random sparks of productivity.
I've started trying to paint bigger and bigger to get me out of my comfort zone and it's actually quite fun. I've got this massive (well, by my standards) painting under way but since I don't have space for it at my place I'm doing the drawing/underpainting at my partner's house so that I can move around and see if something is looking dodgy. It's... a distracting work environment. I need to wrap up the initial painting and move the painting (and all my supplies) back to my place so that I might work in peace and quiet. That is, until the electricity goes or some other ridiculous cock up.
Basically, same old.
