History:
Born in Pahpeya City, Hartnell spent a lot of his younger years with his grandmother Iona, his mother Hope worked as a nurse at the local pokemon centre and often worked long shifts. Hartnell's father Hewitt was a trainer, not a particularly renowned one but dedicated enough to move to Hoenn to challenge the gyms abroad when Hartnell was only two. Hewitt's relationship with Hope dissolved before Hartnell was old enough to remember much about the man. Hewitt Cutter bothered enough to send the occasional birthday card in the mail, but otherwise had no hand in raising his son.

Hart was a well behaved child at home, but had difficulties in school from a young age, although he was a bright kid, he had trouble reading and writing alongside the other children and often acted up out of frustration. He gained a reputation as a troublemaker among teachers and a class clown among students. Although the other kids enjoyed his antics, Hartnell actually had very few friends his own age. He formed a strong bond with his grandmother, a retired contest coordinator, and when Hartnell recieved his first pokemon, a caterpie, the two of them would often hold mock contest battles in their backyard. Iona would always let him win.

As a teenager Hartnell mellowed out, but he still had little time for schoolwork. He did the bare minimum required to graduate and finally managed to make some friends, he regularly skipped school, attended parties, weekend camping trips, and rarely gave much thought to the future. Aged 18 Hartnell was out in the real world and had no skills to recommend him for a job besides his bubbly personality. Eventually his mother managed to get him a place at the pokemart working as a store clerk.

Hartnell was quickly fired from his job for taking money from the register, shoplifting was a habit he had picked up as he had never received any sort of regular allowance from his mother or grandmother. Unfortunately he was unable to find another job for a long while in Pahpeya after that, Hartnell took to freeloading in his mother's house for the next four years. When he was 24 he left, kicked out by his grandmother Iona who had had quite enough of his empty promises to find a job. Finally Hartnell Cutter began pursuing a dream that he had had since he was a kid, becoming a contest Coordinator.

Currently he makes a small income working casually at the very same store which he was fired from all those years ago (Although he's not allowed to handle the money), but spends the majority of his time training and competing in backyard contests and battles with other amateur trainers.

- He still occasionally steals small items from convenience stores, although he's careful to cover his tracks.
- He always carries a jar of honey in his bag, Chips will complain if he doesn't get his snacks and Hartnell is trying to wean him off processed foods.

Chips is a born performer and loves to be the centre of attention.
