Description
From a picture of the gorgeous Mona Johannesson. Her features are just pure mathematical curves! My 2nd attempt at digital painting after Skywards .
I'm pretty happy with the progress between the two, and I've developed a few techniques which should help further down the road. Went through all the initial "this is gonna look like crap" to the "not so bad after all" steps of creation...

This is gorgeous! I learned a lot about shadows and how they affect the shape of the face after studying what you've done, and I have to thank you for that. This is an amazing piece and will be featured in one of my journals some time soon.
Wonderful job!

Interesting take, but you can almost see brush strokes in this.
Great, simple, but striking image.

Yes, I want brush strokes to show. I think it gives digital paintings more of a tangible feel. Let's just say I'm no fan of the airbrush...

Everything about this is beautiful, but I appreciate it the most because you haven't made the texture of it completely smooth.
I can still see the brushstrokes you used, which makes it so amazing to study. The colours are so perfect too.
This helps me feel that complete blending and plastic smoothness isn't necessary to achieve magnificent digital work.
Very well done.

Thank you very much! This is something I really want with my digital paintings, that they still look like they could be real paintings on canvas, with strokes and texture; not just ones and zeroes zipping through a processor...
