"Ew! What are these?!" Shame cried, seeing a slime work its way across the floor.
"It's a slime, Shame. Hostile creature who eat living things for sustenance. I told you to read the manuals."
Pity looked at the little creatures. "Are they sentient?"
"Of course. We're in a mindscape, Pity. They need to have brains to know what to look for." Mischief looked upwards, seeing more climbing down the shelves. "Must be coming from a Core Memory guardian. They only come out when needed."
Pity looked to the left, seeing blue slimes fleeing from something small. "What's that?"
Mischief looked to the left, seeing a small, golden slime where the blue ones were running from. "That? Gold Slime. Rare mutations that is relatively harmless. Can't usually fend for themselves and they don't eat meat like blue ones. They tend to die if their parent don't look after them, but seem to be hated by their blue counterparts. Best if you leave it and let nature take its..."
Pity let go of his trainer's hand and slowly walked up to it.
"Pity. that's not what I told you to do."
He got down to its level, finally seeing the detail on them. They had little black dot eyes that were asymmetric to their shifty body. In its mass, a brain, heart, and stomach floated about. Overall, deceptively cute. Pity put his hand out, which the golden slime quickly accepted, climbing up his arm. It cooed softly, cuddling the emotion. He got to his feet, petting the small slime. "That's a pity that they left you here all alone," he said in a calm voice, "I'll call you... Delight."
Mischief just stared blankly. "You coming, Pity?"
Pity looked up, nodding slightly and running back to them.
"And why are you bringing the slime?"
He looked at it and it blinked its small eyes. "It's a reject because it is different. I don't like that feeling. I will take him as my own so he can live a long life." He reached to his shoulder, petting the slime. "Isn't that right, Delight?"
