Description
Part of:------------------------------------------
I'm really getting good use out of those books I bought. They've really helped be to understand better how to think of everything I do as 3-dimensional objects at all times; once I recognized that everything has to maintain 'volume' (so-to-speak) it got easier to spot my mistakes and I felt more comfortable drawing more dynamic positions since I could "see" where everything was positioned in space - even if I couldn't actually SEE it....that makes sense, right?
Is it just me or is "Apache Chief" an even more potentially fire-starting name than "Black Vulcan"? Which is weird because you'd think 'black' would be more bothersome since it just lumps everyone in a certain part of the skin tonal spectrum together as "the same" whereas "Apache" at least refers to a specific culture. I guess it was really more the overall depiction that was considered offensive, not really just the name.
His original story was very simple and short: When he was young he and his tribe's Chief were walking in the woods where an unexpected danger proved his character and the Chief gifted him with a magic powder that imbued him with special powers. The End.
Here's what I'm thinking: Born and raised on a reservation. Tye (yes, like Longshadow - just calling him that as a placeholder but I'm not opposed to it being his name) grew up loving his people's traditions and ways but found himself drifting away as he entered his teens much to the dismay of his Grandfather, a chief. When he ends up failing to play his appointed role in a special ceremony due to prioritizing his other, more 'modern' interests (cliche, I know) his upset Grandfather takes him for a walk to try to reconnect him to his roots by passing on some wisdom as well as a special family heirloom.
You can probably guess the rest: they're attacked by aliens/mutants that 'closely resemble' monsters of Native American lore, Grandpa bites it protecting him and gives him the heirloom which of COURSE is made of some extraterrestrial mineral the baddies covet that ALSO happens to activate the meta-gene in his family's bloodline and gives him his powers. He vows to protect his people forevermore and goes from having become blase towards his culture to...well, c'mon he's called the "Apache Chief" for crying out loud.
...or how about: "Apache Brave"?
Final Notes:
Personality: He never stopped caring about his people or having pride in his heritage, he just didn't get what the big 'deal' was and felt like sometimes he was being kept out of the 21st century (he wasn't, but teenage mentality
He's fully capable of having fun, smiling (as seen in his 'pre-hero' head-shot) and even jokes, but once he goes "Full-Brave" it's all business.
Costume : Like the others I tried to stick close to the classic and just put it in something like the "Teen Titans" style. I also gave him a shirt and pants because people wear shirts and pants. The only real notable additions are the necklace and face-paint (I think it helps give him some 'attitude'). Also, his eyes go 'Batman-white' when he grows to give him a bit more of that nice 'Oh crap, we ticked off the wrong guy' quality.
Other: His powers include growing to enormous size (it was capped initially but later became limitless; he can now reach cosmic proportions if he wants to
What do you think?

I like how well you did the little guy running for his life to prevent being squashed like a bug by Apache Brave's super-sized hand.

Cute detail adding a sweet connection between Apache Brave and Jayna since he can talk to animals and she can change into aninals.

Just a germ of an idea; I'm still rolling it around in my head to see if they really have any chemistry (not that they can't just become good friends and still make Zan jealous )

What would the Super Friends reboot versions of Samurai, Rima, El Dorado, and Wonder Dog look like?

I'll probably put him together with Marvin and Wendy since the three of them are a combo (like the Twins).

Will Wonder Dog be an robotic canine created by the Wendy and Marvin? Or just a hyperintelligent, regular canine similar to Brain from Inspector Gadget?

Does he still have to say "ENUK CHUCK!*" in order to grow?
*Yes, I know I probably mangled the spelling.

I'm thinking 'No'.
However "Inyukchuk" (wiki spelling) apparently means "Big Man" so I think I'll have that be his Grandfather's nickname for him; I think that'd be a cute way to reference it.

I'm liking your versions of these characters and this world your making.
Maybe you could write a short story involving this world and these characters you made.

I don't know if I have that kinda time; there's not just drawing but a TREMENDOUS amount of research you have to do (that's what holding up my OTHER comic strip) to do these kind of things justice. But I'm happy you like it so much.

Hey it's okay all this concept art is just great.
You know if this were actually a show I just know there would be an episode (either a special or a season finale), where the Superfriends are given an important mission in Metropolis and actually meet Superman.
My idea for how it would go down is that they are sent to Metropolis to protect a key witness that is vital to Bringing down Intergang (The Metropolis Mob) and that witness is Clark Kent. So they would spend the entire day protecting him and not letting him out of their sight, giving him no chance to be Superman. Honestly it would be played for laughs if you ever watched or read All-Star Superman, there would be scenes like the prison break where Clark has to help without letting it get out that he is Superman, so he clumsily ballet's his way through danger. And there would of course have to be a scene where Clark gives out some of his old Kansas wisdom. The Climax would be that Intergang hire's the Parasite and Metallo to Kill Clark, while the Super-Friends fight the Parasite and Metallo Clark finally has a chance to slip away and change into Superman. This would not end with Superman swooping in and saving everyone, they would all actually work together to defeat these two. Superman would impart some more wisdom and tell them if they ever need help to give him a call.
This is just something I thought up looking at your art for the Super-Friends I just wanted to share it.

That is...not a bad idea at all: meeting their hero without even knowing it. Nice.

What about an idea for an episode where the Super-Friends travel back in time to protect a teenage Clark Kent (not Superboy) from being killed by Epoch aka The Lord of Time?

Dude...
I'm just putting out characters to help with my drawing practice; I'm not thinking that far ahead about any of this. But the DC universe is expansive so anything's possible, I guess?
