Description Commission for *Dreamers-Respite

Finally finished it!!! This painting is mainly the reason why I haven´t finished more commissions in the past month: I was stuck with this one. It was extremely pleasant to do it, but it was also exhausting, I worked everyday for hours on it, it was a really big project. It took me a whole month to get it done, to say the least, not to mention a bunch of drafts I left behind. I think it´s one of my best works to date. I´m very pleased with this piece.

Now back to work!

Wow, I really like this one! The background is colorful but slightly subdued whereas the outfit is all black but very shiny, which makes for a neat contrast. There are some subtle details that may or may not have been intentional, like the inner swirl above the butterfly (level with the character's eyes) that looks like the iris of an eye shape in the background. All the things coming out of the glyph-like surface nail that magical feeling, and the small basket of potions and curiosities at the character's side makes his occupation all the more convincing.

Not to mention the fact that you had the patience to spend 100 hours on this is remarkable :b

Hehe, they are intentional. You have a good eye. I love putting a lot of subtle things on my art, but not always people notice everything.

hah. I agree. I have never spent this long to finish a piece, and I have to say I´m damn proud of myself just because I actually finished it and didn´t let it around until the end of time, like it happens with others pieces I spend too long on, sometimes.

Thank you so much! I discovered as time passed that mixed media is my way to go. I love mixing different materials and seeing what they can do.
