Description
I made this painting seven years ago, and I figured it was due for an update. Hopefully I'll use this as the groundwork for something in oils or perpahs a digital painting later, but it's nice to have the concept down at leastAfter spending so much time on tumblr, I've completely lost the deviantart habit of naming my paintings. It's a skill, and I'm so rusty nowadays o_o
thanx for the encouragement Uzlo ;o;
On tumblr too!
water colours on some fabriano satin grain 300gsm i think. little bit of copic marker. staple gun. pliers, because of staple tea.
Original is sold

I don't know why I didn't add this one to favourites before but better late than never?

Thank you! I'm reasonably pleased too, but I'd like to try and work it with a more forgiving medium, and see what happens

I always felt that watercolours are one of the most forgiving mediums you can pick, but then again, I tried oils just once and hated them (although I love what you can do with them once you’ve properly learned it!), so maybe I shouldn’t be the one to talk…

Haha, water colours is forgiving for one's schedule, I feel, because a painting can get done very quickly, but in oils you can paint over your mistakes or just wiping them off the canvas (difficult with water colours) and in photoshop there are layers and ctrl+alt+z x'D I'm not very good with either, but i feel they're more forgiving in the cases where you don't really have a plan than water colours are. But they do take longer, and oils take up a lot of space... /:

Hm, okay, maybe it works for me because I always plan my colour schemes before wetting any brushes…

I do the same! It's the details of the piece I like to be able to change on the fly. So I like all three media, I just want to paint this thing in the ones where I can change my mind mid-way x'D

Ah, okay. Guess I’m with that, I just let the paint do what it wants as long as it still fits my intended colour scheme

Wow this looks great! Nice work on your tones/ pallet, and the composition is spot on too. Quite different than the previous one but definitely in the same spirit.

Thank you! I considered making it more similar, but in the end it was more fun changing the facts but keeping the spirit, so to speak.
