Description
Sorry for it's massive filesize. It looked like ass when compressed, so ... yes. Many apologies. This isn't really a tutorial, it's more of a how I go about things because some people seem interested SO WHY NOT.
This is by no means telling you how to do it. I don't think I'm worthy of bossing people around.
Banner's leg fucked with me the ENTIRE TIME. I almost gave him a pegleg out of spite. THAT'S RIGHT YOU HEARD ME BANNER. PEG LEG.
The Banner was drawn for the cast page of my upcoming website for Without Void.

Hey, just out of curiosity, how do you draw a girl?
They're a lot curvy-er than the boys.

Oh man, they beat me up at Sheridan about not paying attention to silhouette, and I STILL haven't grasped it properly as hard as I try! Someday, someday!
Oh, don't say you're colouring is bad! It's good! That it's simple is better. I always overcomplicate it and end up with a big mess.

That's very interesting! I love when people post their how-they-do-it because there is always so much to learn and there's always something new. Novelty = artistic fuel. Seeing new ways to work it really makes me want to draw more... :3

"...and then I throw on a purple overlay layer over him to unify the colors because I never pick the colors right the first time."
I didn't know anyone else did that. I usually either do that or convert the image to a jpeg and mess around with "Adjust Hue/Saturation" because I totally suck at colours.
This is awesome though. I'll have to try out using the pencil tool to ink. Inking is another thing I need to work on, hurrr.

...Hey, please don't use "retard" incorrectly. Acting like it means something bad is really REALLY offensive and insensitive. I would appreciate it if you never did that ever again. Thank you for reading.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
rissbutts In reply to Saviant [2008-07-12 01:21:42 +0000 UTC]
Actually I think she only used it incorrectly because she said it "retardedly easy" which would actually be an oxymoron, and mean it's NOT easy. That and the fact retardedly isn't a word I don't believe.
Retard, according to Webster is "to slow up especially by preventing or hindering advance or accomplishment", a synonym of impede.
You using "retard" as a synonym for "someone with metal retardation" is actually using the word icorrectly as well.
Semantics I suppose, but, the more you know.

whoa, quite a helpful tutorial, thanks for posting this. I never thought of making the lineart with the pencil tool, but it makes sense and helps keep the painting process simple. I remember I wanted to try it once by applying one of Nashya's tutorials, but never managed to pixelize the lines, silly me, I never thought about actually redrawing the thing.
TL;DR, thanks for the idea, I'll probably try this soon.

EXTREMELY USEFUL HOMMMGGG. I have such trouble with the brush tool anti-aliasing on me everywhere DX Though I'm not sure I follow the whole... shrinking and then setting it bicubic? Or is it shrinking via the bicubic option?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
vert-is-ninja In reply to xandrei [2008-07-10 05:27:43 +0000 UTC]
Basically if you go to Edit > Preferences > General there's an option to switch it to Bicubic or Nearest Neighbor. When it's Nearest Neighbor, when you transform the image, it will not anti-alias. If it's Bicubic it will.
When you're finished with the image, to avoid it looking pixellated at viewing size, when you shrink it for web, then use Bicubic.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
xandrei In reply to vert-is-ninja [2008-07-10 05:59:22 +0000 UTC]
Oh I see! So basically ink it at whatever size using Nearest Neighbor and then downsize using Bicubic. Thank you so much!
