I've been actually itching to draw something that isn't a strip for a while, and I have to admit, this was incredibly fulfilling. I kind of tried some new stuff, and some things aren't great in here but it was fun to do.This is Mercutio Vondrasek (not the Shakespeare character, but obviously the name is from it!). He usually doesn't smoke giant cigars but it sort of fit the picture and everything, so there he is.
It was mostly a practice in his body language, and getting his face shape and hairstyle 'right' in my mind. I think it worked out okay. I can already see his massive layers being annoying to draw in the future though, especially panel to panel. BUT OH WELL. The comic will probably be a practice in 'let us see how fast Tessa gets tired of drawing his layers and therefore stripping him slowly'. I look forward to it too.
So yes. I would try to like talk more about him (cos I adore him) but words are not easy for me today.

This looks great. The vibrant colors contrast well with the dull foreground.
How do you get your half though? is it a brush? a texture? or a technique? Please tell me

I adore the color usage in this. The huge area of red with the contrasting bright blue is really great. The orange half tone also breaks up the red but subtly so its' not so overbaring. And the smoke from his cigar brings your eye all over the page so you can see all the details and appreciate them.

This is great, BTW. I love the holographic effect on the sign behind him, just the fact that it's futuristic, but you can tell it's old and beat up.
