Description

Directarianism is the polar opposite of Cooperative Individualism, and serves as its primary antagonist on the ideological world stage, seeking to de-throne the Co-Indiv world and establish what it sees as a perfect society. While Cooperative Individualism seeks to create a world of ordered chaos, Directarianists wish to form a world in which humanity controls its own destiny, in which the human race will guide itself towards paradise, with rationality and camaraderie for all.

Directarianism, at its most basic foundations, is about control, which it sees as the only possible way to ensure that humanity can survive. Humanity, in Directarian texts, is naturally flawed and there is simply nothing that can be done about it, but what can be done is create a society that gives mankind purpose and structure, allowing the species to prosper and not collapse under its own weight. In order to achieve this unified world order, the Directarians utilize factory age ideals, revolutionary zeal, and the power of a government instituted reward system for working on time.

Directarian societies are all built around the concept of “Humanist Destiny”, which is a concept that was first coined in the early 18th century. Humanist Destiny believes that humanity as a concept has always been influenced by individualistic and independent ideals, which give humans the idea that all are created equal and can pursue their own lives.

Humanist Destiny rejects this reality, stating that humanity will inevitably collapse if allowed to pursue its own devices in various areas of national culture, ideology, economy, and religion. In order to combat this supposed collapse, Humanist Destiny sought to create a form of government that could handle this herculean task, a system that wouldn’t be created until the late 18th century.

After overthrowing the various monarchies of Europe, Russia, and Britain, the Directarian movement hunkered down on their territories and began to try and bring about their paradise.

In a Directarian society, everything is a part of a unit that can be moved, combined, or decreased at the will of the society’s locally appointed administrators and leaders. A single individual, after reaching various checkpoints of age, is tested in order to determine their strengths and weaknesses and where they would best work in society.

A person with a photographic memory is perfect for records and the police, while a person with immense strength is sent to a construction team. Individuals who have similar strengths and weaknesses are merged together into teams that the government can send to solve a situation, such as construction teams, science teams, and even cooking teams that work together to produce quality food.

Directarianism is an ideology that can be both democratic and authoritarian. In a democratic Directarian state, there are no political parties or people with differing views, as both candidates simply give different ways to solve a situation. Meanwhile, authoritarian Directarian nations use a rigid technocratic system of government in order to get projects done, sometimes utilizing hereditary dynasties in order to keep the smart genes for the government.

Whether democratic or authoritarian, a Directarian society is always dominated by immense bureaucracies that employ thousands of people in order to ensure that the government is always in tip top shape. These individuals, just like government candidates and those at the top of the government, are given intense loyalty tests and raised from birth to be incredibly loyal to the government. Because of this, corruption and disloyalty is rarer than getting struck by lightning three times in a row.

In order to keep loyalty strong among the people who aren’t in the bureaucracies or at the top of the social ladder, various means of social and societal control are used to keep people in line. In some Directarian nations, a remodeled form of a native religion can be instituted to give people a sense of divine purpose. However in most nations, constant propaganda and state sponsored talks keep the people focused and loyal to the Directarian way.

Life isn’t necessarily bad in a Directarian nation, as the government makes sure that everyone gets fed and has a warm bed, as an unhappy population is not a working population. This and the constant propaganda makes the people who live in a Directarian nation very cooperative, often working hard to provide for themselves and give back to the nation that has given so much to them.

However, not all is paradise within Directarian walls, as these governments also maintain slavery like in the Co-Indiv world. This slavery is reserved for prisoners, social dissidents, and those who fail to meet work quotas multiple times. Life as a slave is similar to a normal citizen's life, but is even more restrictive and hardworking than any other life in the nation.

There are four major powers in the Directarian sphere of power, all of which are a part of a major alliance known as the Global Coordinate, a massive project that seeks to develop the Directarian world to such an extent, that they will be prepared to take on the Co-Indiv world and win.

The first major Directarian nation is the European Collective, the most reactionary and zealous of the Directarian nations, as it has taken control of all of Europe from Spain to Poland. In this new Europe, religion has all been outlawed and replaced with propaganda, cities burned then rebuilt, and everyone is educated from birth to become the perfect hard working citizen. The economy is the most regulated of the four, with the banks effectively becoming an aristocracy within the technocratic higher levels of government. Local cultures have also been replaced with a collective identity and a government sponsored cult that worships the future has become its state faith.

From Siberia all the way to the plains of China, the Directed People’s Union is a force to be reckoned with, having the largest population of the four and the most land under its control. Rather than eliminate culture, the Union has chosen to merge the Chinese and Russian cultures in order to give its citizens a shared identity, with the belief that they will become the most perfect vision of mankind over their rivals.

From the sprawling territories of the British Empire emerged the Crown Directorate, a nation not founded in revolution, but a slow and meticulous take over of the nation. Now, a monarch is chosen every few years from a large pool of different competitors that wish to have the position, similar to a democratic Directarian system.

India is the most draconian of the four, employing brutal tactics to make sure everyone succeeds at their quotas and fulfills their duties. Reworking the old Indian caste system, India is now a nation where loyalty to one's caste is loyalty to humanity, and trying to escape from it will either end up with you dead or worse.

As the years go on, and both factions of the war dream of a world where they win, many world leaders wonder if the Driectarian dream will even be able to survive a world war. The Co-Indiv world has precautions to ensure its survival, but they are all independent and will only serve to divide them once the bombs stop falling. However in the Directarian world, these bunkers are completely filled up, yet who will survive in them, the leaders? The people? Will the dream of a single united people succeed, or burn in the ashes of world wide devastation?
