Multiversal Religion Index, File 321."Wheeler Christianity"
In universe 321, the Bubonic plague, known collectively in this world as the "Eternal Plague", killed eighty percent of Europe and Asia rather than sixty percent, plunging all but the walled off Middle East into a eternal dark age. During the 1950's A.D, a young man in northern France began preaching the virtues of patience and forgiveness. This man, Henry, also claimed to be the second son of God and Jesus's brother. His teachings became incredibly popular, spreading across Europe like a wildfire, and because there was no Protestant Reformation and no Enlightenment, they became the only other variant of Christianity in this world. After having his back broken on a wheel under orders of the Papacy, the Pope and King of France died when the churches they were praying in burned to the ground thanks to a dual lightning strike one stormy night, causing many to believe this to be a sign that Henry's message was the correct form of worship. After a intense twenty year long conflict, Rome as burned to the ground, and Paris became the hub of the so called "Wheeler Council."
In the modern era, Wheeler Christianity has now taken its spot as the dominant Christian faith, and has engaged in a medieval cold war with the prosperous and "progressive" caliphates in North Africa and the Middle East. Wheeler Christianity espouses a doctrine of patience and forgiveness, meaning that the concept of time has largely been altered to have days be longer and the years even longer. On the forgiveness part, Wheelers believe in forgiving sinners by not killing them, but instead deporting them to the wild lands of Russia or throwing them across walls into Muslim territory.
The symbol of the Wheelers used to just be a wheel, but after a referendum by the Wheeler Council in Paris, it was decided to included the symbol of the crucifix, as Henry did claim that Jesus was his brother. So now, across the kingdoms of Europe, alongside national flags, flies the symbol of a new Christianity, and a new Europe.
