The diamond was kneeling in the ashes, swirling her fingers among the shards of her guardian. Coral Pearl had grown weaker these past centuries, even having an affair. Not that the diamond disapproved. It was just that such a fragile Gem needed to concentrate when containing monsters. The battered old Pearl even had melted during the breaching of containment. Perhaps she had never truly been loyal if she had lost the Gift. A smile began to spread across her face... a fanged smile. The sharp teeth were new. Good. Fire Diamond would need them. Laughter that was somehow cold despite the burned metal around her echoed through the ship.

Fire Diamond was once the highest of Diamonds, ruling even over the colorless and pure White. She was cruel and petty, but allowed great freedom among her subjects. Fusion was common and actually encouraged by this ruler. Passion - even destructive and dangerous passion- was seen by her to be the greatest beauty. Great resentment grew within the four Diamonds who served beneath her and in time they overthrew her. On the last day of her free life she abandoned her people and fled to the Flaming Tower. There she learned her fate from Star Ruby... they meant to shatter her and destroy any trace of her from the galaxy.

It was Mica who came up with the plan to hide the great Diamond away from the new 'Authority'. The gem was wise enought to know their deposed ruler would never go along with such a plan. In her mad, glorious way she was already talking of destroying her enemies and freeing her sisters. Quietly she and the loyal Pearl companions that had also fled to the Tower formed a plan. They would lure her into a bath of lava then flood the room... it worked perfectly. As the Diamond flailed in the cooling rock each of the Pearls reached out to her with a tendril of flame, offering help. Fire Diamond reached out and accepted the tendril of Coral Pearl... and was pulled into the servant's Gem!

For nearly 20,000 years she has remained trapped within Coral Pearl. Now though... madness has consumed her and she has killed her guardian. The vows of vengance echo across the millenia... and she is coming for Yellow Diamond first.
