FINALLY GOT IT.
Finally figured out a design for Maya Holy snap. I modified the winning entry for that one contest fav.me/d7ube5g (I hope you don't mind, L!) And managed to finally get to a design I enjoy and that I can associate Maya with. She has been the most troubling character design wise omg.

But nevertheless, Here she is and I adore her ;u; She's like in the top 3 of my favorite characters yet noone knows much about her. (Atleast I think most of you don't xD)
SO YE THAR

NAME: Maya Rafosa
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
SPECIES: Dragon (Varmikna and Nuirin dragon hybrid)
POWER: Controls Lightning - Lightning breath and 'conjuring' it

Physical features:
She has short legs and despite having a stocky build, she's an extremely fast flier. Running, though, is a thing she's very slow at, so always prefers air travel. She has a pointy snout and rectangular holes on the horns on her head.

Personality:
Maya is a total fuddy duddy happy potatoe

She's an optimistic, fun loving and caring individual that will keep up her bright mood in msot situations. She often jokes and plays around which often annoys others though all in good fun. Despite her seeming a complete child, she takes her job seriously and does it with all her effort.

Often too long optimism tends to threw her into a short 'breakdown'. Being happy for too long can make a problem seem bigger than it is, so at those points Maya's positivity shuts down and she completely locks up inside of her. She acts completely neurtal and quiet, often resorting to just sleeping. Though those moments last maximum only a few days, Minimum a few hours, and she's soon springing back in life with cheeriness!

She is definitely the most hyper of her squad, and is the one who keeps the atmosphere fun. She often mages

Backstory:
Maya is the only child in her family. Her mother passed away not too long after her birth, leaving only her father Safu to care for her. She never actually wanted to be a part of the military, and you could say her career is all of her father's choice. He was too attached to Maya's similarity with her mother whom he loved dearly. And because of her mother being one of the best aerial fighters in he army, he wanted Maya to strive just like her. Most of the time she spent grinding in the army she didn't enjoy at all, but until the point of finally reaching a nice stable top, she started finding things fun, especially when meeting Aros and D'zidra.

All in all she has a very odd love-hate relationship against her father due to some dark secrets Safu has done in the past. She loves him as a dad, but simply cannot forgive and forget what he has done before. Some would say he's upsessed and still hasn't gotten over the death of his mate.

Ongoing story:
Maya is a part the main flight squad in the army alongside with Aros and D'zidra. They are experts at their trade and do their assigned missions with full effort. She keeps following orders and at the same time has fun along the way.
