Poor poor kid.
This leaves me with a lot of questions, including these: What country was this? Where is she now? Who took the photograph? Who are the militants?

Good morning, Vish. In no real particular order except as I mention it, first of all, a happy birthday shout to you. Here in California, I'm 12 hours behind you, so I apologize if my greeting is belated. Secondly, happy new year -- it arrived for you before it did for me, and my wish for you -- and all our fellow artists -- is that we experience a year up ahead of peace and serenity where and whenever we can find it amid the tumult, many moments of grace and creative inspiration. Thirdly, thank for sharing your artwork for our enjoyment in inspiration. The above image is not pretty too look at, but after all it is a true representation of pain. You have prodigious skill in your color pencil rendering, but even more amazing is capturing of the true emotional impact of pain in a child. I hesitated to place this on my favorites gallery, as you have so many competent portraits that I admire. But being able to render emotional impact in my own work is something I always aspire to, and I can surely learn something from you. So, this will be the first favorite of your work.
Best regards,
Ed

Such an exquisite piece. Aside from the accuracy of color, the emotion in this child's face runs through the paper. you can really feel it.
