Description [freetime work]

I know you see these kind of mecha-designs every day,
but i swear by god i did not want to copy anything (i hate it)

It just happend i sketched something random and liked this concept, so i painted it in photoshop.

It`s a 'can' robot which, in compact mode, can be used as a laserline trap or enemy detection and is almost indestructible. The upper body rotates freely in every mode. In the open mode the can transforms into a real robot, that can move on four small tires (hidden behind massive armor plates) and well, see for yourself

Well, the idea of a transformer in general is not very unique anymore (since the movies or star wars) Even the turrets in Portal 1/2 (which are infamous) are in some way transformers. And i believe that anywhere on this planet, all possible forms for transformers already exist, cube, can, ball, pyramid, .... i just wanted to make my own styling, because i like the idea

How large is this concept, if it were real?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

visual-machine In reply to wassap34 [2012-02-20 23:05:25 +0000 UTC]

Oh, small, something like 60-70cm in the compact mode.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

FontesMakua [2012-02-20 22:22:39 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, it's an interesting concept.

While the transformation looks cool, I personally see it a lil' unnecessary, specially for the lower portion. What forbids it from using the wheels while in can form? As for the lil' guns, the yellow parts could just de-attach a tad from the center, giving enough of a gap for the guns to come out. Or better yet, those tiny vents could open up for the barrels to pop out. That way he could retain the compact and more resistant form, while still being able to shoot things.

But that's just me giving off ideas. This is nice as it is! ^^

visual-machine In reply to FontesMakua [2012-02-20 22:38:17 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I admit i did`nt put too much thought into functunality, i wanted to make it look cool and just styled here.
Also let`s be honest, most of the mechs in star wars are useless as hell, they only look good
...and if i made this more realistic, we would have a boring moving can ^^

But seeing the fact you put some thoughts in it says you were interested in this concept, that makes me happy

Of course, most robots we see in media (movies, games, etc.) are design to, in real-life, be taken out by a fart, if necessary. XD
