Punk and Goth, both have been given false definitions and stereotypes by both the media and posers. Both are subcultures based around music, a state of mind and to a lesser extent, one's appearence. Both have been exploited by Hot Topic and the like. I want to see more interaction between Goths, Punks and other underground subcultures, for them to stand against the media and disprove stereotypes and to put posers in their place.

They don't play punk rock anymore they play pop punk, like green day. I have heard of advertising things in music videos and I have only listened to one album but it was most certainly pop punk/alternative rock. My own opinion by listening to their music and looking up the band is they have switched to a more pop sound, selling out to gain commercial success, and the majority of my punk friends tend to agree.

I've never seen anything advertised in one of their videos. They haven't changed all that much, except for a little experimenting with their style--the Rancid album was more classic punk, while Out Come the Wolves showed a little more of their ska influence, but they'd all been in ska bands before so that one wasn't a shocker. Their latest album, Let the Dominoes Fall, had a slightly different style, yes, because they're evolving like any other band, but it's not significantly changed. I don't think it's made them any more popular. Heck, I don't know anyone other than myself who's even listened to the most recent album.

I have really only listened to the one album and I hear what your saying about the ska influences, but it sounded really pop-ish to me. Other then that, all I know of the band is rumours from what my friends have said. I downloaded one album to hear for myself and from what I heard I felt I believed them.
